‘The Winchesters’ 1×03: “You’re Lost Little Girl” review
Emotional connections are just getting deeper!
The Winchesters 1×03, Season 1, Episode 3, “You’re Lost Little Girl” aired October 25, 2022 on The CW
The creepy opening monster scenes of The Winchesters is giving off major Supernatural vibes, particularly season 1 of Supernatural. The little girl that was taken wasn’t just any little girl, she is Mary’s neighbor! In a world where monsters are very real, having the Campbells as neighbors is a definite plus.
Getting closer and closer
Mary and John are still spending a ton of time together as the gang works works to find Samuel. Latika even tries to set up a little “break” for Mary and John at the movies, but Mary is completely aloof to the hint. We know these two end up together, but it’s still so fun to watch them grow closer and ship the heck out of them. But even this destined-to-be couple isn’t without their obstacles.
John’s ex is a super nice cop that is also working on the case of Mary’s missing neighbor – well, now neighbors and they have a history. Plus, Mary hangs with a mystery guy at the movies after she finally decides to take a breather. JUST LET THEM BE TOGETHER!

Ada and Carlos
Stake outs can be a snooze, but it’s impossible to be bored for long with these two. Between Ada’s super cool witchy ways and Carlos’ wit, there is never a dull moment. The demon that Ada is after pounces and Ada threatens to lock the demon away in a tree unless he gives her answers about the monster box. The demon spills some deets about how the person in charge is hiding in a female’s body and that they are connected to the Acreda.
Lore time!
Again, with the lack of internet, John and Mary turn to Latika to find out more about the sack monster that took Mary’s neighbor. The gang also starts to wonder if the recent slew of rando monsters is somehow connected to the Acreda. Latika is so smart and always knows were to find the lore, or at least where to look. She is such an asset to the team.
“You found me once, John Winchester. I have faith you’ll do it again.” – Mary Campbell
Game Plan
After the second child goes missing, Mary comes up with a risky plan of attack and John is not happy with it. Mary decides that the best way to save the neighbor children is to get caught herself and to fight the monster on it’s turf. We know that she will make it out, but this plan really showcase Mary’s bravery and her faith in John and the gang.
Family resemblance
In the previous episodes, we saw glimpses of just how much Dean took after his mother, but this episode we really start to see how Sam takes after his dad. It’s not just the stellar casting, it’s the portrayal by Drake Rodger. John carries himself much like Sam of Supernatural and has the same passionate fire that Sam always had. The attention to detail of the actors, writers and creators has really made it impossible to watch this show and not see flickers of Sam and Dean and we mean that as the highest of compliments.
Latika’s past
Latika’s family is brought up and Mary quickly tells John that Latika’s parents passed away a long time ago. But when John and Latika are working to get Mary and the kids out of the monster’s sack, Latika makes a phone call to someone and says to tell her mom she is okay! Why is she hiding that her mom is alive?!

Mary’s escape plan
Mary has been planning to leave hunting behind her, but she is also terrified to walk away from the only life she has ever known. The way that Mary opens up to John about this and the way that John knows exactly how to talk her through it is lovely. Their emotional connection just keeps getting stronger. They may have just met, but John continues to show a deep understanding of Mary and her struggles. It’s a level of emotional depth we didn’t realize John Winchester ever had.
The hunt continues
The gang has saved the day and stopped the monster, but they are still on the hunt for Samuel and now they are also looking for a woman who is powerful enough to scare demons. Could she be the mysterious DJ that is bottling the essence of the defeated monster? Yeah, we think so.
