‘Teen Wolf the Movie’: 6 thoughts about the teaser trailer

We are SO pumped for this movie!

During the Hall H Teen Wolf panel at SDCC 2022, Paramount + dropped the highly anticipated Teen Wolf the Movie teaser trailer! Seeing so many of the characters back in action was super cool (even if we are missing Stiles with our whole hearts). There is still so much we don’t know, but this was a very interesting glimpse of what we can hope to expect Teen Wolf the Movie

In TEEN WOLF THE MOVIE, produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and MGM’s Orion Television, a full moon rises in Beacon Hills and with it a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a werewolf like Scott McCall (Posey), no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced. – Paramount + press release, July 21, 2022

We had many thoughts watching this teaser trailer, and even more after about a dozen re-watches! And we definitely re-watched a bunch because getting to jump back into Beacon Hills just feels so right.

Here are our 6 thoughts about the Teen Wolf the Movie teaser trailer:

The Villains

Our first thought is about the teaser trailer’s narration. It seems like the narrator is a villain from Scott’s past and it sounds like he is trying to convince other villains to join him as he seeks revenge against Scott. Again, this is just speculation based on the trailer, but we love the idea that we will see villains from Scott’s past!

The Oni

Speaking of past villains, the Oni are in this teaser trailer! If you recall, the Oni were the big bad in Season 3, the season that gave us the greatest villain ever (Void Stiles), but took our dear, sweet Allison away. Knowing that she comes back, having the Oni in this movie makes total sense.

But on the flip side, we are also reminded of who is NOT coming back. Stiles and Kira won’t be involved in the movie’s Oni story, which feels weird considering they were so closely connected to them during the show’s run.

Daddy Derek

Eli Hale (Vince Mattis) makes his debut in the teaser trailer with his pops, Daddy Derek , at his side. (Yes, that’s what we will be calling him from here on out!) We don’t know much about him, but we know he’s 15 and that he’s got his dad’s good looks, and that’s about it. We are obviously eager to meet Eli, but we are also looking forward to seeing Eli and Daddy Derek’s relationship.

We got to see Daddy Derek as a mentor to Scott, but now we get to (hopefully) see a more paternal side of Daddy Derek and we are here for it. Will he be the tough and stern guide that we saw when Scott first turned, or will he be softer with his son? Either way – we are loving the growing list of hot dads in Beacon Hills!

Officer Mason

Mason wasn’t in the first chunk of the show, but he stole our hearts in seasons 4, 5 and 6. We are so happy that he is back and it’s so cool that we get to see him joining the action – as a man of the law! We are sure that Sherriff Stilinksi is happy to have another guy on his team that knows all about the supernatural. Or maybe not, you can never tell with him.

Grounded

There are many instances of people crawling or dragging themselves on the ground in this teaser trailer. What that means, we aren’t sure, but it feels important to note.

ALLISON ARGENT IS BACK!

We knew that she would be (based on the casting announcements), but it was still so f*cking cool to see her officially back in action! As if her slow motion walking with a flaming car behind her wasn’t enough to make us lose our minds, we also got the emotional gut punch of Scott telling Chris Argent that his daughter is alive!

Even if the movie is just each character getting to reunite with Allison, we would be happy as heck, but we will take the other stuff, too. And what does that mean for her and Scott? They weren’t together when she died, and Scott was with Malia when the show ended, but we are already shipping the heck out of Allison and Scott.

Check out the trailer and let us know your thoughts!
