‘Roswell, New Mexico’ Season 3 finale recap
THAT ENDING!
Roswell, New Mexico Season 3 Finale, 3×12, “I Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That” and 3×13, “Never Let You Go” aired Oct. 11, 2021 on The CW
The Pod Squad and co. are facing off against Jones in the back to back episodes of the Roswell, New Mexico Season 3 finale and it was so very stressful. There was a lot of suspense, lots of science talk, lovely romantic moments, some epic showdowns and a huge cameo! Here’s what went down!
Worst dinner party EVER. Jones makes one last play at a somewhat civil discussion, but the squad is not on board with his bullsh*t. When Jones can’t break into Michael’s mindscape, Isobel uses Jones’ brief distracted moment to grab her sword in the real world. That’s when things go horribly wrong. Jones shatters Isobel’s sword and the shards get lodged in Dallas’ neck and he takes Michael. Nobody even drank the wine.
Kyle and Isobel. As we long suspected, Kyle DOES like Isobel and even admits it to Maria! There is a lot of intermingling of the people on this show, but this is one we are 100% hoping to see play out. As they work on saving Dallas, Isobel starts to pick up some vibes from Kyle and they have a little mini mutual admiration fest while pulling shards out of poor Dallas. We ship it.

To save Max. Liz has been working hard on the science needed to save Max, but it’s going from bleak to bleaker. If she saves Max and breaks the tether to Jones, she’s worried Max will lose his powers. Max had always wanted to be “normal” in the past, but now that it might be actually happening, he is questioning what his purpose will be. In a rare Max/Alex heart to heart, Alex reminds Max that he is more than what he provides to those he loves. There are lots of big heart talks in this episode and we love to see it.
Father and son. This father/son hang session in Michael’s bunker is long overdue and we are finally getting all the details on Jones’ past – FINALLY! Jones is spent after his day of mind control and torment and Michael uses that weakness to access some of Jones’ memories. We all knew that Jones was a crazed killer, but it’s still a little alarming to learn that Jones killed his entire triad. Michael also sees that Jones wants the Lockhart machine to call someone or something. They get into a huge alien powered fight and Jones stabs Michael, forcing his guard down. Jones sees Alex in Michael’s mind and sees that he has the Lockhart machine. Jones leaves a badly injured Michael laying on the floor of the bunker and heads to Alex at Deep Sky.
Maria’s new vision. Maria is out of the loop, but her powers are still super tuned in to the crazy drama going on. She sees not just one, but three coffins this time (and breaks a bunch of booze). Determined to figure out what her vision means, she busts out the Tarot Cards and realizes she needs to go to the junkyard. She gets there in time to staple up her ex before he bleeds out and help him go after Jones!
Clones and Jones. Jones pops in to the Deep Sky building just to break more crap and cause some trouble. He floats Eduardo, Heath and Kyle out the window in order to get Liz to shoot him up with the serum to separate Jones and Max. Thankfully, Max saves the dudes floating outside the Deep Sky window and every stake jumped way up. Everyone is safe, for now, but they don’t have time to waste because they only have a tiny window to kill Mr. Jones.

Warrior women. Maria, Rosa and Isobel are the trio we didn’t expect to love so much, but we are all in on this warrior woman sisterhood that grew stronger and stronger over the course of Season 3. They were able to repair the sword, but Maria doesn’t think that it’s the sword that Isobel needs. And Rosa pushes Isobel to follow her own path and to be her own warrior.
BFF’s. We didn’t get to spend much time with them this season, but would love to see more of the friendship between Heath and Dallas. They have such a strong history and it’s clear that they would do anything to keep the other safe. When Isobel is having a hard time finding Dallas in his mindscape, she pulls Heath in and he knows exactly where his bestie would go to feel safe. It’s all very sweet.
Echo. FINALLY these two have a conversation about their feelings and are really in it together. She calms him, he confides in her, she stabs him with a needle and extracts alien adrenaline – you know, normal love stuff.

Goodbye Jones. FINALLY after a season of craziness, they are able to defeat Jones with a fire soaked showdown and with Liz having to decide who’s who. It was a huge, stressful and emotional showdown with a lot of body swapping. While we will miss seeing Nathan Dean play the evil Jones, we are happy to see our favorite peeps out of danger – at least for a little while anyway.
Happy ending? Jones is gone and Max is making margs for his siblings and Dallas. Michael and Alex go on their first official date, Isobel and Kyle almost dance and then Isobel and her gf makeout, Echo skips the ocean and hits the bedroom, Maria and her Manes man get cute, Rosa gets a new ID and everything seems good!
“HOW DO YOU KNOW LIZ ORTECHO?!” – Holy heck – we did not see that ending coming! In Mexico, a new alien has appeared and a local woman brings her to another person sitting in the shadows. She is Liz’s former teacher played by OG Roswell’s Shiri Appleby!!!!
That was such a great season with a ton of moving parts. We got to see the resolution to the Jones story and it was very interesting to see everyone’s powers evolving. What did you think of season 3?
