Walker 1×03, Season 1, Episode 3, “Bobblehead” aired on The CW February 4, 2021
Old friends have a way of blurring things, don’t they? It’s like they hold a piece of your former life, of your former self. And when you are grieving and longing for the old days, like Walker, it can be very difficult to take off the rose color glasses when an old friend crosses a line. Especially when your old friend is a criminal that gives you a mustang! Here’s what went down on Walker 1×03!
Bobblehead. We will never get over how cute these flashbacks of Emily and Walker are, mostly because it’s Genevieve Padalecki and her real life husband. IT IS SO CUTE! In this opening flashback, Emily is teaching Walker how to drive a stick in Emily’s red Mustang. He doesn’t get it right away, but we love that it was Emily that taught him with her patient, encouraging words. And she introduces the bobblehead that brings good luck.
Bonding gone wrong. Micki and Walker are on a stake out to catch a woman involved in the arms deal they are tracking. Before the Texas Rangers can get a jump on the woman, she is warned about them by a cowboy stripper covered in glitter (remember him, he’s important)! When Micki and Walker do go in to the strip club, the cowboy and the gun lady escape in Micki’s new truck! Worst part? The bobblehead is still in it! No wait, the worst part is that Micki will never, ever get that glitter completely out of her pretty new truck.
Hoyt is trouble. The glittery cowboy that made off with Micki’s truck turns out to be one of Walker’s oldest friends – Hoyt. He is clearly trouble and even dares to drive Micki’s stolen truck to the Walker house for dinner! Bold, a jackass, but somehow still sweet to Walker and his fam. He even gives Walker back the red Mustang that he lost to him in a poker game. Sweet? Or just a manipulative asshat? Both. Let’s go with both.
Micki. Micki is not okay with all the gray area around Hoyt and his friendship with Walker. The Captain is also very aware of Walker’s ties to Hoyt and how Hoyt is likely a part of the arms deal about to go down. She decides to head over to the bar and arrest Hoyt as he shares a drink with Walker and Geri. Mostly because she knows Walker will never take his pal down himself.
Bonfire fun. Stella is still in trouble for her weed possession, but she decides to sneak out to go to the school bonfire. Turns out her mom was the one that started it and going gave her a sense of closeness with her mama. What she didn’t expect at the bonfire was her slightly awkward and very drunk little brother. Thankfully, they call the best Uncles on the planet to come pick them up. A+ for the decision not to drive, kiddos!
Fake lead. With Hoyt arrested, Micki presses him to tell her where the arms deal is going down. He gives them a fake location, but Walker knows his buddy and figures out the real location! Hoyt may make terrible choices, but he is clearly much more conflicted than he first let on. Before the arms deal goes down, he makes a call to Mama Walker. It’s pretty heartbreaking actually.
The bust. The Rangers find the arms deal and take them down – Hoyt included. He tries to get out of the craziness by stealing Micki’s truck AGAIN, but she is able to disable it before he can get out of the parking lot. Yes, he seemed like a good dude, but Micki was 100% right, Hoyt needs to get in trouble in order to actually straighten out.
Stella’s trouble. Stella has a court date for her possession charge and she is nervous as heck. It’s the first time that she actually seems apologetic and sensible. Is she finally scared straight? We hope so. And in an adorable full circle moment after Stella’s court date, Walker teaches her how to drive stick in the red mustang (and makes poor August sweat out his hangover with a run home)!
The Walkers. These two give off such a weird vibe. They clearly have some tension, maybe even a big rift. We are hoping to see more of this relationship. We need more!
