Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist 2×03, Season 2, Episode 3, “Zoey’s Extraordinary Dream” aired on NBC Jan. 19, 2021
Sleep is something you need to function, but it’s in short supply for our peeps in this episode. Zoey is having terrible stress and grief dreams that are keeping her up, while it’s the adorable little Miles that is preventing David and Emily from catching some zzz’s. Here’s what went down in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist 2×03!

Maggie’s new partner. Maggie and Mitch ran their business together before he got sick, so it’s understandable that Maggie’s first pitch after his death would be a tough one. The two were known for their bold landscape designs, but Maggie’s pitch was “safe” and didn’t have that same spark. Ouch.
Thankfully, she has a great creative mind nearby – Jenna! We are loving this unlikely pairing. Jenna is a bit wild and free, and that’s exactly what Maggie needs in her life (and in her pitch)! Maggie even asks Jenna to stay and work on the project with her.

Stressssssss. In an effort to lighten her stress, Zoey delegates some of her work tasks. It promptly blows up in her face when Tobin orders sexist jerseys and George makes an egg bar that stinks up the office. Even when they are being crazy, the Brogrammers are an absolute delight. While we totally understand that Zoey’s family problems are the biggest part of the show right now, we miss these knuckleheads.

The love triangle. Zoey made her choice, but its seems like she wasn’t quite ready to be with anyone. Her grief and her stress is preventing her from fully embracing her new relationship with Max and it’s heartbreaking to watch. Max is trying so hard, and possibly pushing a little too much, but Zoey is drowning in grief and stress making it impossible for her to be present with Max.

Max suggests that Zoey move back to her apartment in an effort to stop her bad dreams, but it doesn’t work. Max’s heartbreaking song to Zoey is the final nail in this ship’s coffin – for now anyway. “Say Something” is such a perfect song in this situation because Max is literally begging Zoey to open up to him. He just wants to help, but (like Simon said) Zoey’s dreams must run their course.
Max isn’t one to sit back and wait for things to fix themselves, he tends to dive in and do whatever he can to fix it. But he can’t fix Zoey, no matter how much he wishes he could. Goodbye sucks, but it’s the right move. Brb – we have to go cry now.
