‘Supergirl’ season six: The Final Season

On September 22, 2020 The CW announced that Supergirl’s season 6 would be its last. Coming off the final season of Arrow this may not be surprising to some but to most Superfans, the news is quite shocking!

Supergirl presented a new take on The Girl of Steel. Melissa Benoist presented a powerful, loving, and accepting new super hero. The episodes danced into our hearts each week. It introduced new heroes like Nia Nal and Brainiac. The show brought some inventive villains such as Silver Banshee, Livewire, Lex Luthor and Indigo.
Supergirl wasn’t afraid to take on topics such as LGBTQ inequality, sexism, and the technology/reality argument. This story brought us family. We watched as Kara Danvers went from being an orphan (aside from a certain cousin), to adopted, and finally finding her own!
Not to mention all the fabulous guest stars from all different walks of DC. Characters like Lena Luthor and Alex Danvers gave young girls something to aspire to, not to mention Kara herself. We also got to see many incarnations of our favorites such as Guardian (Jimmy and Kelly). Let’s not forget our Martians, J’onn and M’gann.
Although we will deeply miss this show and the cast, we have to remember we have a final season to watch. 20 episodes filled with heart, courage, and love. We will never forget the friendships made. (oh Winn…) One thing to remember is hope. Hope for a a great final run and a series finale to remember. I think I speak for many when I say, “Thank you to the cast and crew for giving us 5 seasons of Supergirl. Cheers to a final season.”
Supergirl returns to The CW in 2021.
