‘In the Dark’ 2×06: “The Truth Hurts” recap

Jess deserves better.

In the Dark 2×06, Season 2, Episode 6, “The Truth Hurts” aired May 21, 2020 on The CW.

Every episode of the this season has been more intense than the last. As the tension surrounding the drug and money laundering operation gets worse, the dark cloud of the pending death that we are getting closer and closer to seeing is still looming. It’s all very stressful and we love it! Here’s what went down on In the Dark 2×06!

6 Days. Okay, we are getting closer and closer to the Dead Ben moment and the puzzle pieces keep coming together – but what the heck does Josh have to do with it? Is it a late night hook-up call? Did he crack the Nia case? We have so many questions!

Sterling. She might be the best employee ever – just not at Guiding Hope. In the previous episode we learned that Sterling is actually working for Nia and is really dating Sam! It was a huge bombshell and we are still not super sure how we feel about all of it, but it’s clear that Sam is NOT okay with Sterling smooching on Jess.

Josh and Murphy. Josh is going blind and Murphy uses it as a reason to get closer to him so she can find out what he is knows about Nia’s operation. Even though we know she is only spending time with him to get info, it’s nice to see her smile. And them saving Chloe from that party was pretty cute.

The bust! Thanks to Max’s knowledge of Klingon (we love this hot nerd), Dean and Gene finally get a lead! They put the puzzle pieces together and it leads them to the grocery driver (who was the one moving the drugs to the prison where Max is). It’s all connected! Felix was moments away from getting caught up in the bust, but thanks to Chelsea, he was safe!

The Jess problem. Sam takes Jess to Nia and that’s when shiz hits the fan. Murphy and Felix weren’t telling Jess about the drugs in order to protect her, but Nia has viewed that as a sign that she’s untrustworthy! Just as Jess is about to be killed for this, Nia is shot by Darnell’s friend. Jess could have walked away when Nia was laying on the floor with gunshot wounds, but she instead she acted. Jess continues to show that she is the beating heart and moral center of this show and that’s why it’s so, so heartbreaking to see her break down in tears when she is finally safe in her bed.

Max’s new job. Max is moving Nia’s drugs in prison and judging by the look on his face, he is not too happy about it. Seriously, can we get this dude out please?

She’s in. In the previous episode, Murphy was adamant about not turning on Nia with Darnell, but after seeing what all of this is doing to Jess, she has had a change of heart. Murphy calls Darnell to tell him that she is ready to take Nia down.
