‘In the Dark’ 2×04: “Deal Me In” recap

In the Dark 2×04, Season 2, Episode 4, “Deal Me In” aired May 7, 2020 on The CW.

This episode took our stress to a new level and it was pretty awesome. There were twists, turns, stabbing, sex, deals and double-crosses. Basically, everything that happened was a bit of a game changer and we were not prepared. Here’s what went down!

9 days earlier. So Ben is dead, that much we already knew, but we are getting more details each episode. We know Felix, his gun and Murphy are there, but we still have so many questions. Also, they talk about drugs which makes a lot more sense at the end of the episode when we see that Murphy is letting Nia use Guiding Hope as her new safe house.

Max is over it. He is locked up, but it seems like it’s his broken heart is what’s really hurting him. Murphy went to see him, but didn’t tell him that she only pretended to break up with him and now that he knows about Dean, he looks totally destroyed. We didn’t realize that Murphy didn’t tell Max about the Nia money and that’s the cherry on top of the “that’s f*cked up” sundae that Murphy has crafted for Max.  Ugh, and he also got stabbed and almost died because of a hit ordered by Nia. BRB, gotta go cry for a fictional bad boy that deserves so much better.

Jess and Sterling. They are cute AF. These two are the little ray of sunshine in the midst of the crazy storm that is this episode. More please!

Felix and his date. Poor Felix. This is officially the worst and most cringe-tastic date ever. EVER. Felix gets jumped in the bathroom and then cries during sex, yikes. What isn’t clear is why exactly the goon jumped him now. Was it because he took the money the first time (from the well), or did Nia somehow know that Felix took some money for his big date? Either way, it’s super scary. The whole ordeal prompts Felix to finally fire the gun and overcome that fear and feel empowered for the first time since this all started. Good for you, Felix.

Nia knows. Welp, this is not good. The second that Nia finds out that Max was arrested, she tells Sam to have Max killed and to find Darnell. Darnell was finally out and living his life, but he’s sucked right back in.

Deals and stuff. Everyone is making plans and deals in this episode. Max makes a deal with Dean to give up Nia’s safe house for Dean to keep Max safe – Dean breaks it. Darnell makes a plan to take down Nia by teaming up with her competition, but his plan directly conflicts with Murphy’s plan to keep Max alive (and screw Dean over). Murphy beats Darnell and Dean to the punch by telling Nia about the safe house bust in order to keep Max safe (thank GAWD). We are firmly Team Murphy on this one.

Dean. Ugh. Screw this guy.
