‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ 1×09: 3 biggest moments

Wow. Just wow.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist 1×09, Season 1, Episode 9, “Zoey’s Extraordinary Silence” aired on NBC April 5, 2020.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is always great, but (like Max) we feel like this episode just leveled things up. The deaf number was so powerful and moving and it’s these moments that make this show a must watch week after week. This episode was a total game changer!

Here are the 3 biggest moments

 #1 Fight Song

Zoey has decided to help Howie reconnect with his daughter, Abigail, who is away at college. Howie’s daughter is deaf and wants to go to Kenya to work with children. It’s an awesome plan, but Howie is extremely worried about his daughter’s safety because of her hearing impairment.

Abigail gets frustrated with her father constantly trying to shelter her. She performs “Fight Song” in sign language without captions or other vocals and it’s a truly breathtaking moment. Representation like this is so important and this song was incredible to watch.

#2 Max makes a move

Things are a little awkward with Max and Zoey right now, but that doesn’t mean we want Max to leave (and he didn’t seem to want to either). After a quick chat with Zoey left him feeling less than thrilled about his position with her, Max accepted the job on the 6th floor! NOOO!

We can only hope that this distance will give Zoey some time to miss the (not engaged) man who has been literally in front of her this whole time. #MaxAndZoey4eva

#3 Jessica and Simon call it quits

It’s not shocking that Simon and Jessica are breaking up, but it was still a huge moment for these characters. The duo sang “Happier” and the dance that went with it was stunning. We aren’t sure what this means for Zoey and Simon going forward, but it’s definitely the right call for Simon and Jessica. Jessican deserves way better.

We love Simon, but we did NOT love the way he was cheating on Jessica and stringing Zoey along. We hope he will use this time to work on himself.
