‘Black Lightning’ 3×03: Top 3 moments from “Agent Odell’s Pipe-Dream”

Agent Odell: the manipulator!

Black Lightning 3×02 recap: Season 3, Episode 03, “The Book of Occupation: Chapter Three: Agent Odell’s Pipe-Dream,” Aired Oct. 21, 2019

In this weeks episode of Black Lightning: There’s a horrible virus outbreak that only affects metas; Agent Odell allows Jefferson and Lynn to return home; Painkiller becomes the ultimate killing machine; and Jen and Grace are finally reunited.

Lets breakdown the top 3 moments of 3×03 in more detail:

#1 Agent Odell finally lets Jefferson and Lynn home

News breaks out that there is a virus that is killing metas, most of which that had been affected was those being kept in the detainment centers. Of course, this should be no shock as forcing many people into confined spaces is just a breeding ground for a viral/bacterial outbreak, which will swiftly infect fast. Odell forces Lynn to take action and to find a cure fast. If she don’t, then that could be her children and husband dead. Wow, talk about pressure!

Lynn later discovers that the virus was man-made – and the only other person who could have known to do this was Dr. Jace. She then works out that the outbreak began (most likely) when Cyclotronic attacked the detainment center. Therefore, meaning it was all planned from the beginning. Odell sends out Black Lightning to capture Dr. Jace, that way he will finally be able to go back home.

For once, Agent Odell wasn’t lying, and finally allows Lynn and Jefferson to return back home – yay! However, Lynn isn’t fully free as she will have to return and continue to work for Odell.

I still don’t trust Odell, and can’t quite work out his game. I really want to know why he would go to the hassle to lie to Jen and say the Markovian’s killed Khalil’s mom, even though we all know it was Khalil himself. I guess soon we may find out what Odell is truly up to. When Jefferson finds out Odell lied to Jen, he is going to go crazy!

#2 Painkiller is here to stay

Odell has truly turned Khalil into a monster – and it’s damn well scary! We see Odell send Painkiller on another mission, where he well, kills everyone (without ANY hesitation).  We also see Painkiller show off his fighting moves, and expanded knowledge. This way Odell can use him as the ultimate weapon, whenever he requires.

After Agent Odell made Khalil kill his mom, I don’t think he could ever come back from that. He may be a brainwashed-martial artist- killing machine right now, but if Khalil even gets a hint back to reality he might not want to return. I think it could only take Jen to bring him back. I do really hope that Jen and Khalil can get a loving reunion, but most likely Odell will never let that happen *sobs*!

#3 Anissa and Grace reunite

Just as I lost all hope of Anissa and Grace being together again, Grace randomly turns up, waiting for Anissa. Anissa is shocked (like most of us would be), and kind of annoyed to. I would be pissed to, after all Grace just left with no explanation, then turns up again and expects everything to be all good? Hmm, not cool. However, Anissa and Grace talk everything out, and sort out any resolving issues. Grace explains she has no idea who she is, and is clearly having some identity issues. Anissa promises Grace that she doesn’t care about her being able to shift, and will help and stand by her at all costs.

Anissa realizes that she has to do the right thing and speak with Jamila to call things off. The two meet at the bar and Anissa explains everything. I really respect Anissa for being so honest and decent, she has really grown into an amazing woman! Jamila, acts cool about it all and explains she is okay and can stick to being friends. As much as I love Grace and Anissa together, I do feel bad for Jamila, because they seemed like they could be a good match too.

Are you happy with Anissa and Grace getting back together? Or do you feel that Anissa should move on and maybe be with Jamila?

Side note: how awesome was Black Lightning‘s new suit upgrade?

I can’t say I like Odell, or his motives very much, but this new tech even puts Gambi to shame (sorry, not sorry!).

Black Lightning airs Mondays at 9/8c on The CW.
