‘Supernatural’ 15×02 review: “Raising Hell” is all about returning faces
This really does feel like the end
Supernatural 15×02 recap: Season 15, Episode 02, “Raising Hell,” Aired October 17, 2019
It’s been a hot sec since we’ve seen demon and ghost possessions! And in Supernatural 15×02, it was as gruesome and horrific as we remember. Season 15 really isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to the creep factor and the unexpected emotional gut punches. There was a lot going on and many returning faces in this episode. Let’s break it all down!
Reunions
Ketch is back and he brought his fancy British MOL gadgets to help the boys in their ghost hunt! Rowena is also back to help with the problem, but the two get immediately distracted because they keep flirting with each other and it’s hilarious. Amara and God make their return too, but they are off in Reno doing Chuck knows what. Also, Kevin Tran showed up (as a ghost) and saved Dean and Ketch from a pesky ghost. It’s so great to see all of these peeps back in action and also super bittersweet.
Ghost town
As Sam holds a bit of a Q&A with the evacuated humans, Jack the Ripper holds his own meeting with the ghosts. Jack, the Ripper is trying to rally the ghosts against the Hunters and their new demon pal, Belphaghor. The ghosts even turn to using Kevin Tran against the Winchesters, but thankfully Rowena saves the day with her Soul Catcher. Dean has to shoot Ketch in order to get Jack the Ripper out of him, but it works and the good guys win!

Dean is pissed
There is so much going on that it’s easy to forget the traumatic events of last season. Cas and Dean carved out a little time in this episode to discuss the things that have been pissing Dean off. The list includes how Cas didn’t tell him about his mom and Jack which make this scene even more gut wrenching.
Dean is also (understandably) upset about God’s plan and how everything in his life feels like it’s been a lie. Cas tries to talk him down like only he can, but Dean’s fire is burning hotter than ever before. And if seasons past have shown us anything, it’s that an angry Dean is a fighting Dean, but that’s kinda what they need right now.
Links to God
The Winchesters have always has a strong link to Chuck, but now Sam has an actual one. It seems that their bullet wounds weren’t just similar in look, they are linked! When Chuck touches his bullet wound, Sam feels it. Chuck isn’t just feeling the stings of that, his sister isn’t feeling the sibling bonding that Chuck is asking for and she leaves him in Reno to set out on her own. Ouch and ouch.

Kevin can’t go to Heaven
After Kevin helps them defeat the ghosts, he asks for a favor. He knows he can’t get into Heaven after spending so much time in Hell, so he wants to be freed from Belphaghor’s warding so he can live as a ghost on Earth. Watching Kevin say goodbye and tell the Winchesters that he loves them is even sadder knowing that this is likely the last time we will ever see him. The final season in only two episodes in and it’s already crushing our hearts.
