Fall 2019 season premieres: 5 TV shows you need to catch up on

It’s that time of the year again!

We did it! We made it through another hiatus. Well, at least for the shows that are coming back this fall. In less than a month from now, some of our favorite TV shows will be back with their season premieres, and we’ll finally get the resolution from all the cliffhangers we were left with back in May.

Here are some of the shows you need to catch up on ASAP (if you haven’t already), before another season starts and you fall even more behind!

Superstore

If you’re into workplace comedies, Superstore is your show. It’s hilarious, has amazing characters, and, on top of that, tackles a lot of issues. It became very real last season with its finale.

No spoilers, but the cliffhanger was huge. I might have cried a little.

Plus, season 5 will welcome Justina Machado (One Day at a Time) as a recurring guest star, so… one more reason to catch up on the show! It will be back on NBC on September 26th.

NCIS

Have you heard?! Ziva David is alive! After all of these years, it seemed impossible that the series would manage to bring back Cote de Pablo. And yet, here she is!

Her comeback will likely make many old fans of the show want to catch up. Personally, this is one of the season premieres I’m the most excited about. Especially if the showrunners manage to bring Tony (and Tali) back, too, so that we can finally get a happy ending for our beloved Tiva. That’s what they (and we) deserve.

You can already watch the trailer below and catch the new episode on CBS on September 24th!

The Good Place

Mike Schur, The Good Place’s showrunner, announced a few months ago that the show would end with its fourth season. And even though I’m sad to say goodbye to one of my favorite sitcoms, I’m happy to learn it will end on its own terms.

If you’re not caught up with the show, it’s time you do it before season 4 starts on September 26th on NBC! Out of all of the season premieres coming our way, this might be the one you don’t want to miss—because it’s going to be the show’s last!

This Is Us

While some shows are ending, others cancelled… This Is Us is living the dream. Indeed, we learned back in May that it hasn’t been renewed for one, but three more seasons at once!

No need to worry about it for the next few years, then. We still have a lot to learn about the Pearson family–whether it is about their past, their present, or even their future, like we saw last season.

NBC’s hit drama is back for Season 4 on September 24th. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for our beloved family and meet some new characters, as we can see in the trailer below. Keep some tissues close—I have a feeling we will need them.

Single Parents

Single Parents is a very funny show about well, a group of single parents and their (absolutely hilarious, I must say) children. It premiered on ABC last year. You might recognize Elizabeth Meriwether as one of the co-creators of the show, the same woman who gave us the just as hilarious New Girl.

If you don’t know it already, you should definitely check it out before its season 2 premieres on September 25th on ABC. In only one season, it already became one of my favorite sitcoms on the air! I can’t wait to see more of these amazing characters.

Which season premieres are you the most excited about? Which shows do you need to catch up on before they’re back on our screen? Hit the comments and let us know!

If she’s not writing about the TV shows she loves, she’s probably daydreaming about the TV shows she would love to write. From Brooklyn Nine-Nine to The Office or The Good Place and Parks and Recreation, you can say she’s a real fan of the "Schuriverse" and sitcoms in general. You can find her on Twitter @adele_sou – with all the TV shows she watches, there’s probably at least one you have in common with her.
