‘Once Upon a Time’ meets Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’
Once upon a time, Taylor Swift graced our world with music that made us feel all the feels…
There’s nothing I love more than Taylor Swift and Once Upon a Time. Also, Taylor Swift is releasing her seventh album TOMORROW, so why not celebrate in some sort of way? I mean, what kind of fan would I be? The bad kind of fan — that’s who.
In OUAT, each ship differs…just like the first four singles from Lover. Here are ships from OUAT that I think align perfectly with Tay’s new singles.
“Lover” = Emma and Killian

Okay, so I might get a little sappy here. This song, along with Captain Swan, brings out all the emotions in me. This song embodies the depth of loving someone so immensely — of feeling like you’ve known someone your whole life. Even though Emma and Killian only knew each other a short time, we knew they were each each other’s lover.
“Can I go where you go? Can we always be this close forever and ever?” How can you not listen to these lyrics and not think of Captain Swan? Emma literally went to the Underworld to get back her love. She knew she wanted forever and ever with him. Their wedding and vows were proof of that. They’re truly are each other’s lovers. Excuse me, I just need to go dab my eyes of these tears…
Also, Taylor makes it pretty dang clear that she’s found the one she wants to spend her life with. That’s how Emma and Killian were by the end of the series. Fans were shown that they were going to be together forever and ever and ever and ever. Okay, I’m done.
“Me!” = Snow and David

I don’t know why, but this song immediately makes me think of Snow and David. It has to be the upbeat tune that makes me think of their hope in each other. “Me!” is about loving someone for their quirks, and if that doesn’t embody Snow and David, I don’t know what does.
“Baby doll, when it comes to a lover, I promise that you’ll never find another like me.” David and Snow didn’t meet and end up together in the most conventional way. But they knew that they would never find anyone else that made their hearts sing. (Literally…”Powerful Magic,” anyone?)
I always associate the upbeat and fun things with Snowing. Like I said, it’s the hope speeches! That’s what makes them their own kind of me. I think that’s just beautiful because they love each other’s quirks so much.
“Archer” = Regina and Robin

The song title is an obvious reason why Regina and Robin come to mind when I listen to “Archer.” While that seems like an obvious reason, the depth of the lyrics go deeper than just the song title. This song is about finding someone through all the crap you went through.
“Cause all of my enemies started out friends…help me hold on to you….I’ve been the archer; I’ve been the prey.” Does this not just scream Outlaw Queen? They both have been prey and archers, until they found each other. Regina struggled a lot with her darkness, and she was trying to “hold on” to Robin’s love. Oh, boy, the memories are all coming back, and it’s painful. Their love was so pure.
I still can’t believe Robin was killed off…
“You Need to Calm Down” = Dark Emma and Dark Hook

Okay, this is just a silly thing, so don’t take what I write to heart. “You Need to Calm Down” is the anthem of not caring about what anyone says and being the queen or king of your own dang life. That’s Dark Emma and Dark Killian. They were walking around the Enchanted Forest and Storybrooke being all evil without a care in the world. Snow telling Emma to stop being evil? Nah. Emma telling Killian to not be all evil and stuff? Nah. They did whatever they wanted because they could.
