‘The 100’ 6×09: 4 biggest takeaways from “What You Take with You”

Demons are being faced.

The 100 6×09 Season 6, Episode 9, “What You Take with You” aired July 10, 2019 on The CW

Whoa. Book two is crushing it! The 100 has such big, epic plot-lines, but it’s the characters and their reflection and growth that make this show so great. Each character’s journey is treated with such care and this episode really hones in on that. They really have everyone facing their demons – the tagline did NOT lie!

In this episode, we saw Kane in a new body, Clarke sharing hers, Octavia fighting herself in the pit and some returning faces. There was also some great Bellamy/Clarkephine action, so let’s just get right to it!

Here are the 4 biggest takeaways from “What You Take with You”

We are ready for an Octavia-driven redemption

Following her stint in the Anomaly, Octavia is back with clean hair and one less creepy, mummy arm. It’s not clear what happened or where Diyoza is, but Gabriel is determined to find answers. He juices her up with some tree toxin and it let’s her slip into a weird state where she encounters a green and red box. Because she always picks the harder path, she chooses the angry, red box. It leads her into the fighting pits that puts her face to face with herself (as Blodreina). And that’s not all! She also gets a tough love, redemption pep talk from Pike!

This scene was so trippy, but it was so very vital to Octavia’s new path. We have seen her on this dark road for so long – and even darker once Pike killed Lincoln, so her redemption absolutely had to start with them. She didn’t find the answers that she and Gabriel were looking for, but we finally got to see Octavia face down her demons. The only way that Octavia could change was if she was forced to face her past, and she finally did. We are READY for an Octavia redemption with Octavia being the one choosing to redeem herself. HERE. FOR. IT.

Josephine is actually the best

I get that in order for Clarke to come back we will have to say goodbye to Clarephine, but we will miss her. Josephine is so snarky and blunt. She isn’t really a villain (body snatching aside), she is just super selfish which makes her kinda fun to watch. Can we please keep her?

Kane should have stuck around

First, let’s just say how much we like (and crush on) Henry Ian Cusick and his portrayal of Kane all these years. Second, we would have been 100% okay with McHottie Kane sticking around for a little longer. We are also pretty sure that Abby would have been totes cool with her new Kane with the hot model bod. That said, his sacrifice and goodbye was heartbreaking, but we are so happy that he got to say goodbye to his BFF, Indra.

Bellarke is about to Bellarke

Okay, we could write sonnets about every bit of subtext and every little line that pointed toward a Bellarke romantic confession, but we won’t. We will continue to wait patiently as every other character on this show points out their connection to them. Even Josephine acknowledges the history of their complicated relationship and it just serves as further proof that these two are forever linked. Bellamy is willing to die and endanger everything and everyone to save Clarke. He even tells Clarke (through Josephine) that he won’t let her die. That’s Bellarke for “I love you.”

It’s worth nothing that Josephine is no stranger to a complex love story. She has loved Gabriel for over 200 years and he has recently started his mission to kill her. She (more than anyone) should understand the complexities of the Bellarke dynamic, but she said it best when she called them “exhausting.” We couldn’t agree more!

Another great moment between these two was when Clarke took control back and told Bellamy she wouldn’t leave him. We love these two and we are READY for them to finally confront the feelings that we see bubbling to the surface (like we did in this episode). Step 1: Get Clarke back. Step 2: MAKEOUT.

This episode allowed these characters to look within themselves and decide who they wanted to be. It was a reminder that even though this show has an epic story-line, it’s the characters and their journeys that make this story worth telling. We love it!
