‘The 100’ 6×05: “The Gospel of Josephine” recap

The b*tch is back!

The 100 6×05 Season 6, Episode 5, “The Gospel of Josephine” aired May 28th on The CW

Oh, dang. Josephine is next level savage and we were NOT READY. The society the Primes have built is so interesting and absolutely insane! Also, we can’t get too far into this recap without giving props to Eliza Taylor for her portrayal of Josephine as Clarke. As viewers, we picked up on the un-Clarke mannerisms right away, but Taylor played it with such care and subtlety that we were blown away. Here’s what went down on The 100 6×05!

In The 100 6×04, the Primes put Josephine into Clarke’s head, but this is the episode where we really got to see what she’s all about. Josephine is so much more than meets the eye. She is brilliant, witty and absolutely knows it. She is also ruthless in her quest to keep the Primes alive, despite the web of lies it is built on. She is willing to kill everyone on the Eligius ship in order to protect Sanctum and her family’s quest for immortality. Savage AF.

Bellamy, the explorer

Bellamy is not okay with chilling in Sanctum and he is ready to set out and find a new home for his people. He doesn’t get very far into this plan (with the reluctant Murphy) because of the shiz that goes down with the Primes and Clarkephine, but we love the way Bellamy is trying to take charge and find a new home for his peeps.

The Secret room (bad guys always have one)

Jordan is not content with the idea that Delilah just dumped him (even though that scene with Bellamy and Murphy is perfection), so Jordan starts looking for answers. And with Clarke’s odd behavior, Gaia is concerned too (mostly because of Madi). The two set out to check the Prime Temple thingy, followed by Bellamy and Murphy (and eventually Clarkephine). It doesn’t take long for the crew to find the lab and the video taped human trials of the Prime implantation. Jordan is traumatized by what he sees, but the rest of them are so numb to death that they looked a little too unfazed. What startles them most is the way “Clarke” reacts. That’s when it starts to fall apart for Clarkephine.

Memory drive

Speaking of the taped human trials, they have finally uncovered the full truth about the Primes. Turns out Gabriel is the one that figured out how to reverse engineer the memory drives and he did it all in order to bring Josephine back. Eurkea indeed! Now that we know that the Children of Gabriel are against the Primes, we have to assume that Gabriel regrets his part in all of this, but that remains to be seen.

Temporal flare pair

Diyoza and Octavia are on a mission to bring down Gabriel and they are starting with the gray haired guy that got away. The problem is that they don’t know the terrain and he does. The get stuck in some forest goo that’s a lot like quick sand. The time in the sand gives them time to talk about Octavia’s path and how Diyoza believes she can still turn it around. They are such an unlikely duo, but they are so interesting together. Before they can spill the beans about the Nightbloods to one of the Children of Gabriel, a temporal flare nearly fries them both – but thankfully they both pull through!

“They don’t know that we know that they know!”

YES! We weren’t sure who was going to figure out the truth about Josephine, but we are so glad it was Bellamy. We thought Abby would be a strong contender in this arena, but she is so busy trying to save Kane that she only sorta notices that her daughter is now right handed. Bellamy quickly realizes that something is up with Clarke and uses Trig to get Josephine to slip up – and it works! Josephine is a straight up psychopath and tranquilizes Bellamy immediately. NOT. GOOD.

Murphy and Josephine – look out world!

Sensing that Murphy is more interested in self preservation, Josephine seeks him out to help her with her next plan. Clarkephine now knows that Abby can create Nightbloods and that’s a real game changer for the Primes. JoJo needs someone to help her with the next phase of her plan, so she doesn’t even TRY to hide who she is. This pairing is going to be so interesting to watch. Will Murphy put himself before everyone else or will we see him play Josephine like a fiddle? WE CAN’T WAIT!

We will have to wait a bit to find out because the show is on a mini break until June 11th, but AHHHHHHH!
