‘Arrow’: Here’s some songs that will remind you of Olicity

Oliver and Felicity are an epic couple. And epic couples have songs written about them, do they not? Here lies a playlist that will remind you of Olicity’s epicness (some of which were dug up from the depths of my angstiest teenage years), enjoy!

I Found

by: Amber Run

Notable lyrics: “and I found love where it wasn’t supposed to be / right in front of me, talk some sense to me”

Oliver, Felicity was right there all along! “I Found” reminds me of season 3 Oliver, going on a first date with the woman he knew he loved.

Do I Wanna Know?

by: Arctic Monkeys

Notable lyrics: “do I wanna know / if this feeling flows both ways”

The sexy-rocker vibes to this song reminds me, quite frankly, of Olicity’s sexiness. Yes, Oliver and Felicity are very sweet and romantic but they are also known for some of the most iconic sex scenes. *Chef kiss*

Summertime Sadness

by: Lana Del Rey

Notable lyrics: “kiss me hard before you go”

Lana Del Rey’s hauntingly beautiful song “Summertime Sadness” reminds me of Felicity’s perspective of Oliver’s hero journey. It’s like “I love you, do your thing, be a hero, but it still sucks.” It’s also a fitting song title considering that all of the Arrow season finales are in the summer.

by: Fleetwood Mac

Notable lyrics: “and I love you I love you I love you / like never before”

This classic is all about wanting beautiful things for the person you love, and how you’ll do anything for them. So basically, Olicity.

Turning Page

by: Sleeping At Last

Notable lyrics: “nothing prepared me for / what the privilege of being yours would do”

It’s season 4 happy Oliver (before the sad breakup)! He’s like, “woah, is this what being in love feels like? Why haven’t I been doing this all along?!” Silly, silly, boy.

I’ll Never Love Again

by: Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born soundtrack)

Notable lyrics: “and I don’t wanna give somebody else the better part of me / I would rather wait for you”

Felicity is still wearing her ring 20 years later. There’s really nothing left to say.

The Night We Met

by: Lord Huron

Notable lyrics: “I had all and then most of you / some and now none of you”

Ah, that disastrous season 4 breakup. Dark times in the Olicity fandom. Listen to this song and cry, my friends.

Can’t Help Falling In Love

by: Elvis Presley (Ingrid Michaelson cover)

Notable lyrics: “I can’t help falling in love with you”

Remember when Oliver whipped out soufflés and a ring so fast without any warning? Was he trying to kill the Olicity fandom? I think he was. But he can’t help it.

Total Eclipse of the Heart

by: Bonnie Tyler (Sleeping At Last cover)

Notable lyrics: “and I need you now tonight / and I need you more than ever”

I know what you’re thinking. “Are you really so extra that you’re putting ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ on this playlist?” And the answer is yes, yes I am. It’s an understatement to say that Oliver goes through some dark things, but he can get through anything with Felicity by his side. It’s kind of my guilty pleasure song, what can I say.

I’ve Got This Friend

by: The Civil Wars

Notable lyrics: “if the right one came / if the right one came along”

Season 2 Olicity, pretty much. With Diggle shipping it so hard.

Born Again

by: Josh Garrels

Notable lyrics: “stumble out into the light / and raise my fist up to fight / then I catch your eyes / so full of love”

If this song doesn’t basically sum up Oliver Queen then I don’t know what does.

To Build A Home

by: The Cinematic Orchestra

Notable lyrics: “and I built a home / for you / for me”

Saving Star City. That’s what it’s all about.

Please Don’t Leave Quite Yet

by: Adam Agin

Notable lyrics: “I swear I’ll work to make it better / so please don’t leave quite yet”

Sorry I keep mentioning the breakup. But alas, I have masochistic tendencies.

Your Beating Heart

by: Brendan James

Notable lyrics: “you would look me in the eye, so afraid to ask me, “why?”/ but I knew you were the star that shines for me / and I had already planned to set us free”

It’s Olicity getting back together in 5×20, remember? The sewer talk in all of its angsty glory.

I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)

by: The Proclaimers (Sleeping At Last cover)

Notable lyrics: “and if I grow old, well, I know I’m gonna be / I’m gonna be the man who’s growin’ old with you”

“You will always be the love of my life.” Oliver Queen said that to Felicity Smoak.

Never Be The Same

by: Camila Cabello

Notable lyrics: “it’s you, babe”

This is more of an upbeat rendition of season 3 Felicity, wanting to move on but knowing “it’s you.”

I Found You

by: Alabama Shakes

Notable lyrics: “and it took a long time / to find you / but I finally found you”

When Olicity finally got married after 6 seasons. Such a MOOD.

All I Want

by: Kodaline

Notable lyrics: “you took my soul and wiped it clean / our love was made for movie screens”

Season 5 Olicity personified!

At Last

by: Etta James

Notable lyrics: “at last my love has come along / my lonely days are over and life is like a song”

Their first dance song! Oliver and Felicity are at their happiest when they’re with each other.

Take Me to Church

by: Hozier

Notable lyrics: “my lover’s got humor / she’s the giggle at a funeral / know’s everybody’s disapproval / I should have worshipped her sooner”

Classic Olicity angst, while perfectly capturing why Felicity is so vital to Oliver… and also to Arrow.

Carry You

by: Ruelle

Notable lyrics: “you are not alone / I’ve been here the whole time / singing you a song / I will carry you/ I will carry you”

What’s getting Oliver and Felicity through these twenty years is knowing that they’ll carry each other wherever they go.

The Other Side

by: Ruelle

Notable lyrics: “we are buried in broken dreams / we are knee deep without a plea / I don’t want to know what it’s like / to live without you”

Before Oliver and Felicity can embrace themselves in the hope, they have to live in the awfulness of their situation for however long they need. They had a life together. They had plans. Dreams. It’s going to take a moment to adjust being without the limb that was so hastily chopped off their body.

The Archer

by: Taylor Swift

Notable lyrics: “I wake in the night, I pace like a ghost / the room is on fire, invisible smoke / and all of my heroes die all alone / help me hold on to you”

Taylor Swift basically summed up Oliver’s season 8 journey. So she’s a fan… right?
