Kidding! On PureFandom.com, we celebrate women daily, but we wanted to take a moment to really reflect the ladies that inspire us. We asked the PureFandom.com writers to share the female character that inspires them the most and why.
Danaerys Targaryen, Game of Thrones
While I’m not down with incest, I’m down with her relentless tenacity to fight for what’s right. She always puts the people first, and she’s strong without needing a reason. She’s a badass JUST ‘CUZ—with and without her dragons. – Liz Prugh

Amy Santiago, Rosa Diaz and Gina Linetti, Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Can I cheat and say that the female trio is my favorite female character on Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Amy Santiago, Rosa Diaz, and Gina Linetti — despite seemingly completely at adds with each other most of the time — are all HBICs. They’re unwaveringly loyal to and supportive of each other, know each other SO WELL, and have zero interest in undermining each other. Better yet, all three are fantastically fleshed out characters who have rich background story lines, don’t exist simply to support their male counterparts, and we have seen them undergo pretty interesting characters arcs. – Jasmine Lee

Lynn Pierce, Black Lightning
I’d say my fierce woman of choice from Black Lightning will be Lynn Pierce. She may not have super meta-human powers like the rest of her family, but she is still superhuman. She is smart, beautiful, strong and loving! She cares so much about her family (her girls and Jefferson are number one), and she’ll always fight to do what is right – even by breaking some rules to do so! – Zina Nouhas

Emma Swan, Once Upon a Time
No surprise to anyone, Emma Swan from OUAT is my favorite female TV character. She’s selfless, brave and doesn’t let anyone push her around. Emma is everything a female character should be, and she slayed a freaking dragon. Even better, she never needed a man to save her, she did fine on her own. Also, she knows how to rock leather jackets. – Madeline Klepec

Thirteenth Doctor, Doctor Who
There’s no one I’d trust to protect the planet more than The Doctor. Rather than equipping herself with weapons, she has a screwdriver and two hearts, and she’s willing to face the universe’s greatest dangers head-on. She has unwavering hope and the belief that every creature is capable of change for the better, despite overwhelming proof that many don’t. – Jordan Alperstein

Liz Ortecho, Roswell, New Mexico
Liz Ortecho is brilliant, confident, woke, and owns every room she enters. She is a powerhouse in so many respects, but that doesn’t stop her from expressing her grief about her sister openly. Liz is confident, strong and shows emotion – like real women. So many TV shows only let their female characters be one or the other and I love that Liz feels so authentic. Watching her journey unfold in Season 1 of Roswell, New Mexico has been amazing and I can’t wait to see more of her! – Meg Bonney
