The Good Doctor recap: Season 2, Episode 12, “Aftermath,” aired Jan. 21, 2019.
You guys, I LOVED this episode af. I always said how I wanted an episode where the doctors were not in the hospital. Just a typical day off for them, and we finally got that with this episode. It was intense and real and amazing. Let’s dig in!
The three musketeers
Shaun, Glassman and Leah team up this episode for a day of some carefree fun. Glassman tells Shaun that neither of them really have friends and that he doesn’t really like Leah (I loled at that part). He was just spilling the tea! I am living for it.
However, he has a change in his step when he decides to start living. When Leah invites Shaun to eat lunch with her, Glassman joins the roommates for a lunch at her work. Where does she even work? That cafeteria is snazzy! I would totally have to sign up for the gym if I worked there.
Leah then decides they all need to let off some steam and just have some fun. So, they go go-carting at her job. Seriously, where does she work?! Turns out, Glassman has a moment of realization during the races: he needs to enjoy his life while he can.
The day is all great and stuff, but there are always some bumps in the road. It totally bummed me out. Glassman makes a little wink, wink, nudge, nudge to Shaun about Leah. However, I wish he didn’t do that because it only left Shaun heartbroken when he came home to find Leah is seeing someone. I’m telling you, Leah is leading Shaun on.
Morgan and Claire…friends?
Morgan and Claire hanging out was something I didn’t know I needed. I am so glad we got those two hanging out because they haven’t always seen eye-to-eye or liked each other, really. Claire is the first to tell Morgan that fact.
They go to get mimosas, but Claire receives a text from her mom that she needs help moving out, as she’s getting evicted. Morgan jumps at the chance to tag along after she admits that maybe she is taking Tyler’s death to heart. I’m glad we’re seeing Morgan have a heart.
Claire’s mom isn’t being evicted — she tells Claire that her boyfriend beats her and she needs to get asap. Morgan takes things into her own hands, telling Claire that they need to confront the guy. This is where we learn that Morgan carries a gun with her because she had a stalker in med school. Didn’t see that coming.
They approach the man, but he tells them he would never lay a hand on a woman. In fact, he tells them he proposed to her mom. Turns out it was all a big misunderstanding — her mom was just nervous to commit. Claire and Morgan part ways at the end, agreeing to meet Morgan’s mom next.
I think I like them being friends. It’s refreshing. Also, I liked seeing that Morgan is slowly letting her walls down. It certainly helps humanize her.
Second chances are always possible
Park spends the day with his ex, Mia, and his son. He admits to Mia that he still loves her and wants to give it another try. While she loves him too, she tells him that might not be the best idea. Not after all the miscommunications they had when they were together.
I like Park, and I want him to find some dang happiness. Preferably to have his family back together again. And it seems like he might be getting just that. Mia comes around, and she tells Park that she would like to give them another shot.
While we’re on second chances….let’s talk about Melendez and Lim. At the beginning of the episode, Lim is quick to tell Melendez that she prefers when they’re competitive towards one another and not caring. He gets a little irked at that, seeing as he wants more.
Eventually, she comes around as well. Lim tells him that she’s been hesitant ever since her divorce, but she would like to try things again with Melendez. Okay, I wasn’t too keen on them at first, but I am really coming around to them. Melendez is just so dang sweet and Lim is so bad a**!
- I really dug that Andrews finally stuck up for his doctors, as he should.
- Glassman spilling the tea about Leah the past couple episodes has me loling.
- Can we get more episodes outside of the hospital? This was a fun adventure!
- Claire is still one of my favorite characters, and I want her to find some happiness.
- I love this show.
Gosh, I just loved this episode. It still had some somber moments, but it was also carefree and fun. I like seeing them have some time off and have a peek into their daily lives outside of work. What did you think of this episode? Sound off below or tweet us!
