After a short cancellation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is back and on a new network! YAY! This show has proven that it’s more than just a cop show and more than just a comedy. B99 has carved a happy, hilarious, little home between these two genres, while still addressing relevant issues in a way that makes it feel more authentic than any other show out there.
In the first 2 minutes of 6×01, the show proves that it was worth saving. The episode picks right up after the Season 5 cliffhanger and Holt’s promotion is addressed immediately. At the end of the episode, a new can of worms is opened and sets the new season up with all sorts of possible comical options. Here are the fun (spoiler-free) tidbits in between!
Let’s take a spoiler-free look at Brooklyn Nine-Nine 6×01!
Holt. This might be the best Holt episode of the series. Andre Braugher out Holt’s himself in 6×01 and he does it in the most un-Holt-like fashion imaginable. (Emphasis on fashion.)
Top Dog Terry. Terry loves yogurt and it’s clear Terry hates decision making, but this episode finds it’s heart in the Terry story of 6×01 (with an assist from Diaz).
Gina and Boyle. This is still the strangest dynamic on the show, but in the best way. Every conversation between them in this episode is gold. And Gina drops some of her best lines in this season opener.
Jake and Amy. You know how on some shows it’s lame or boring when the two leads finally get together? This episode proves that Jake and Amy are the exact opposite of that. Amy’s quirks and Jake’s overall Jake-ness jive like never before in 6×01.
The ABC’s. It takes a turn – a very dirty turn. Prepare.
