There are some things that just make us think of Thanksgiving like turkey, stuffing, parades and – for many TV fans – Friends. Every season of Friends gifted us with a Thanksgiving themed episode. Some were bigger than others, but they all hold a special place in our thankful hearts.
The Friends Thanksgiving tradition started off strong with their first Thanksgiving episode, “The One Where Underdog Gets Away.” You’ll remember this as the Thanksgiving where Rachel wants to go skiing with her family but can’t afford it and Joey’s family thinks he has VD thanks to a recent string of healthcare ads he shot. This episode kicks off the tradition of future Thanksgivings and is Monica’s first time hosting.
This episode also features a grumpy Ross who is sad/mad that his parents are spending the holiday in Puerto Rico and he has to settle for Monica’s dinner. Monica has a mini meltdown because not only is she cooking dinner for everyone, she is well aware (and her guests are making it clear) that she is their second choice. It’s a great way to kick off this show’s 10 years of solid Friends Thanksgiving content.
The rest of the Thanksgiving episodes only got better as the years went on. In “The One With All the Thanksgivings” in Season 5, we got a glimpse into the not too distant past (and very distant past thanks to Phoebe). These episodes end up being some of the best and funniest of each season. Let’s see how well you remember them!
