‘Legends of Tomorrow’ recap: 4×04 “Wet Hot American Bummer”

Legends of Tomorrow recap: Season 4, Episode 4, “Wet Hot American Bummer” Aired November 12, 2018.

This week’s episode was the campiest of camp. Every once in a while it is nice to have a nice solid fun episode. The first four episodes of this season have been a strong mix of fun and serious.

Luckily we get nothing but laughs this week. I am also quite bias towards this episode, because it is centered around our favorite clone, Director Sharpe. Get ready for the #AvaLance feels! Here we go!

Two Hours

We open to Sara and Ava hanging out as couples do. They are watching a movie called, “Swamp Thaaaang.” Yes that is the name of the film. I did not make this up. The movie is based off of a real life event in history where a monster attacked a group of kids at a camp and they all died.

Sara and Ava ponders this. Sara calls out for Gideon. Ava looks at her all adorably and tells her she is in her room. These two kill me. The cuteness is real. Speak of the Gideon, Sara receives a call.

Gideon informs her there is a fugitive at a camp back in whatever year. I honestly can’t keep up with these dates. Can we be real? Camps are the same no matter what decade you are in!

Camp Ogawa

The CW

Ray, Constantine, Sara, and Ava team up and head toward the camp. They are introduced as the new camp counselors. The head of the camp gives them the lowdown of the camp. Ray and John pair off, as do Sara and Ava.

It is here that we learn what kind of counselors each of them are. Quite honestly this is some funny sh*t. As you can imagine they are all very different.

  • Ray, being the boy scout that he is, is a by the book counselor. He teaches his kids wilderness skills and rescue.
  • John leaves and does absolutely nothing.
  • Sara wants to be friends with all the girls and teach them cool handshakes. I have to admit, I didn’t see that one coming!
  • Ava is strict and hard on the girls. That I did see coming.

The Midnight Escape

Kids start to go missing and the counselors have to figure out where the kids were going. John tries to hypnotize them. Ray tries a circle of truth. Sara tries to buddy them up. Ava attempts to scare them into talking. None of these things work.

John and Sara come up with the insane idea to turn Sara and Ava into 12 year-old girls to find out the truth. Ava says no.

“You don’t get it, Sara. I don’t know how to be a kid because I never was one.”

Aww. Our poor Ava. Sara convinces her that now is her chance. I can’t handle how much Sara loves her! They take the potion.

The girls tell them that a girl from the cabin and a boy from the other cabin meet out in the woods at midnight to share their first kiss. Naturally little Sara and Ava do the same.

Charlie Saves the Day

The CW

Meanwhile on the Waverider Zari and Charlie are busy not getting along. Charlie escapes and Mick catches her and puts her back in the cage. Then something all to familiar happens, they bond. It seems no matter what Amaya/Charlie that Mick is dealing with, he always ends up bonding with her.

  1. Charlie tells him about the dimension she was banished to and what she did to survive.
  2. She informs the team about what they are facing. A witch that eats children to survive.
  3. The witch sheds her skin.

The team is on the lookout for the human the witch is pretending to be. It ends up being the other camp counselor. Little Ava and Sara beat the crap out of him and kill him. Yes it is cool as it sounds.

Ava finally got her first kiss as a kid. All is well. Join us next week as Nora finally returns to our screens and we get to see what she is up to!
