Supergirl recap: Season 4, Episode 3, “Man of Steel” Aired October 28, 2018.
Hello, Superfans! I am curious as to what your thoughts were on this week’s episode? I understand Melissa Benoist was doing the crossover, but the show is called Supergirl. We couldn’t have our Girl of Steel, but is it just me or should this have been an Alex Danvers episode? Either way, let’s get into it.
Is Supergirl alright?
Our favorite alien is infected with kryptonite! Supergirl is comatose this week. In this episode we got a retrospective look at our Agent Liberty. We get his back story and it is interesting. Was episode 4 the right place for it? Who knows?
Interwoven into Liberty’s story we get status updates on Supergirl. Here is what we find out!
- The Grave siblings dispersed kryptonite throughout the world.
- The DEO cannot get Supergirl to the Sun without making her condition worse.
- They must call someone in to help her.
Who do they call? Who do you think?
Lena Luthor to the rescue, again!
They called our wonderful hero, Lena Luthor. I’ll tell you what, I feel like this woman saves them more than anyone else. Lena and presumably Eve built a suit for Supergirl. It will protect her from the air until they can figure out a solution.
Alex was surprised Lena actually came when they called. Lena responds,
“Everyone always thinks the worse of me, but I really do care.”
It’s so true. We love you Lena!
Meanwhile, back at the steel mill…
As I said before this episode focused primarily of Agent Liberty. Here is what we learned about his past:
- His dad lost his steel mill to an alien tech mill.
- Liberty’s family lost their house due to an alien attack.
- He is a Xenophobe. (He is prejudice against aliens.)
We find out over the last year how many aliens he has killed. This guy is not a sympathetic character. He is a villain in the truest form. The episode centers around our current situation. It is an interesting look at a still present notion into society.
J’onn J’onzz is back at the DEO!
On the bright side we did get our Martian Manhunter back this week. I miss him so much! He belongs at the DEO, just saying…
Manhunter catches Supergirl before she hits the ground. He takes her to the DEO. It’s nice to see how much J’onn still cares about Kara, even though they have been on the outs lately. He stays by his two girls sides like a worried Papa the whole episode.
Why can’t he come back to the DEO? Don’t get me wrong, I want Alex to stay Director. I just miss our Martian!
This season seems to be diving into some serious subject matter. I enjoy the take through a Superhero lens. I would however like to see some more light-hearted content in the future. It should be quite the season. On thing is for sure, we need more Alex Danvers in our lives! Until next week, Superfans!
