‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Trailer: 3 HUGE reveals

ALRIGHT SO. The final Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer has dropped and I am freaking out over several HUGE things that were revealed, so let’s break down the 3 HUGE new reveals.

#1 Maledictus is Nagini

In a previous article, which you can read here,  I discussed the fan theory that they were the same person er, creature. It turns out she is Nagini! In the Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer, Credence whispers her name and SHE FREAKING TURNS INTO A SNAKE.

I am so excited to see how this all plays out. How is she going to meet up with Voldemort, who at this point in time is around one year old? The series is supposed to span over 19 years so I’m sure we will one day see a young Voldemort meet Nagini, but the bigger question is will she be human still or will she have transformed fully into a snake? In another bombshell today, J.K. Rowling has admitted she kept this secret for 20 YEARS! Proving, once again, how J.K. Rowling is the Queen of Continuation.

#2 Mirror of Erised

In Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Dumbledore tells Harry that he saw a pair of thick, white woolen socks in the mirror. It was an odd choice that had fans questioning for years. With the reveal of his history with Grindelwald, theories were that Dumbledore saw Grindelwald in the mirror. My personal therory was Dumbledore saw his whole family, including Grindelwald, whole and happy. It has been revealed that Dumbledore saw Grindelwald. It even appeared to me that Grindelwald was in a teenage form. Could Dumbledore’s deepest desire be to once again be carefree with a younger Grindelwald before time and tragedy tore them apart? Could it be that Dumbledore is wishing for a timeline where he didn’t have to face Grindelwald? This could also explain why he keeps pushing Newt to do it for him like we see in this latest Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer.

#3 Brother against brother?

We know that Theseus and Newt have a complicated relationship. It most likely has to do with Leta, but that has not been confirmed. In the trailer it looks even more complicated. Theseus tells Newt he has to pick a side. Muggles vs. Wizards is the whole premise of Grindelwald’s fight. Could Theseus join Grindelwald’s fight? I’m conflicted because it seems unlikely he would do something like that, having defied the ministry to fight in a muggle war (WWI). Then again, he is engaged to a Lestrange, who are known muggle haters. We also see Newt happy that Theseus is in magical handcuffs after seemingly trying to stop them. We know that in the end Theseus fights alongside of them, having seen it in previous trailers, but how he gets there will be interesting.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released November 16th, 2018
