‘A Podcast Remembers’ Episode 1: What being a “true dragon” means in ‘Game of Thrones’

This podcast is hosted by Liz and Eric Prugh. The two are married and use drinking wine and talking about Game of Thrones as their date night. Because of the TV series’ insanely long hiatus, the pair look back at some of the most intricate storylines, characters, and myths in the world of Westeros. Tune in as this geeky couple breaks down the mythologies and theories surrounding George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.

In the inaugural episode of Pure Fandom’s Game of Thrones podcast A Podcast Remembers, we break down what it really means to be a “true dragon” in this mythology. Daenerys Targaryen’s brother Viserys once called himself the last “true dragon”, but as it turns out, his sister Dany was. What exactly does this mean? We break that down in more in this first episode.

Our first celebrity guest: Madison Smith, who stars in season 2 of the CBS show Salvation!

We have a special guest on this episode of A Podcast Remembers. We are joined by Madison Smith, who stars as Nate Ryland in season two of the CBS show Salvation. Madison can also be seen as Aiden Webb in NarcoLeap, a KGP Films web series. Tune in for our bonus interview with Madison during the podcast.

In this podcast, we discuss (in the mythology of Game of Thrones):

  • Dragon mythology—how they are created/bred, special powers, and more;
  • Why the Targaryens are the only ones with dragons;
  • How magic and dragons work for and against each other;
  • The great Maestor conspiracy theory to wipe out all magic;
  • Why Dany is the “true dragon”.
