SDCC releases new ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ trailer

It’s no probably no surprise to anyone, Warner Brothers dropped a new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald at San Diego ComicCon earlier today. The trailer is intense and makes me even more excited (if that was possible) for the upcoming movie.

Here’s a breakdown of the new things the trailer shows (watch the trailer below):

Flashback to Hogwarts

Last week, a new photo was released of young Newt in Hogwarts. The picture looked as if Dumbledore was teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts.

We now find out that not only was Dumbledore doing just that, but Newt’s Boggart is working a desk job. It can be assume that at this point Dumbledore was the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Grindelwald’s Army

We see Grindelwald gathering an army, giving a very passionate speech about how Wizards are better than Muggles and shouldn’t be in the shadows anymore. We see a lot of people in a creepy graveyard type place. How many people will be by Grindelwald’s side?

Awesome Creatures

There are awesome returning creatures like the Thestrals and my personal favorite, the Niffler. Aside from that, there are new creatures. Giant cats with glowing eyes, Kelpies, and a weird new creature with scary fangs.

Interesting Tidbits

There were rumors that Nicholas Flamel was going to appear in the film, and now we have confirmation. We see a very old, frail, Nicholas Flamel meeting Jacob. The resurrection stone will be introduced, without a doubt—that would leave the Invisibility Cloak the only Deathly Hallows unaccounted for. With Grindelwald on the search for the Deathly Hallows, Flamel will play a very important role in the movie. Something I found interesting was that Dumbledore sees Grindelwald in the Mirror of Erisad. Dumbledore once told Harry that he saw his family alive and intact—was that a lie, or, did that always include Grindelwald?

With all these questions, November seems very far away.
