Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, Ep 1×04, “Call/Response” airs on  Thursday, June 21, 2018

Overview

This week’s all-new episode, “Call/Response” picks up where things left off for Cloak and Dagger. They’ve been each other’s heads. Seen some pretty twisted hopes and dark fear. This week it’s time for our duo to learn a bit more about one another. Okay, full disclosure. I watched this episode three times. Last week was probably my favorite of the series so far and tough to follow. This week’s episode felt weird pacing-wise and after my last viewing, I figured out that it was because of how the episode was edited. The more I watched the episode, the more I came to appreciate the quieter moments that had to happen.

I think I love this episode just as much as last week’s now. Why? Well, no spoilers but we get some background characters further fleshed out and explore some very interesting relationships. Plus there’s the whole Roxxon thing which continues to be a huge question mark. So, yes. Definitely check out this week’s episode. A lot of wonderful things happen in further developing these characters. Also, last week we learned a bit of New Orleans’ history when it comes to Voodoo. This week, the show delves into another aspect of life and culture in the Crescent City.

Favorite Line

“Fizzy bubble balm for the soul”. You can probably guess who that line came from.

Scene Stealer

As per usual, Aubrey Johnson and Olivia Holt were on fire again this week. Especially in those last few scenes. You’ll see what I mean tomorrow. My “scene stealer” for this week though was Miles Mussenden (Otis). The scenes with Tyrone’s father hit on some many feelings this week. I’d previously seen Gloria Reuben (ER) and Andrea Roth (Rescue Me) in their previous work. Both ladies are proven, badass actresses. It is Mussenden who stood out this week. There are at least two scenes that especially gripped my attention. One with Ty and another with an unknown party.

Official Synopsis

Okay, so here’s the official synopsis and sneak peek of the episode. For those who don’t want any details, thanks for reading up to this point and check back for my full recap of the episode on Thursday after 1×04, “Call/Response” airs.

Cort Robinson A lover of words and moving pictures, I'm a fangirl from way back. Seriously—I grew up watching Daytime TV from my granny's knee. It was Knots Landing over Dynasty, and BtVS over pretty much everything else. I watch entirely too much television and am quite happy sitting in an empty movie theater on a rainy day. And if we’re talking bromances, there's no bromance quite like the Winchesters. Cort has been writing since she can remember and podcasting for nearly 10 years with @bradzb.
