Supergirl recap: Season 3, Episode 21, “Not Kansas” Aired June 4, 2018.
I am going to say what everyone is thinking… These last few episodes are quite random. We spent an entire episode watching Kara on a planet we care nothing about. Then, the writers proceed to make a political episode, right before the season finale. Odd timing.
Here is what went down on the most recent episode of Supergirl.
Suspension of Disbelief
Supergirl decides, once Reign is defeated she will return to Argo. At the beginning of the episode, we are lead to believe after a two minute tussle with Reign, she beat her. There are a million things wrong with this:
- The audience is not dumb. We did not wait all season to believe it would take two minutes to defeat her.
- The rock was given to Supergirl by Reign’s follower, so it clearly isn’t going to work.
- An epic battle is in the season finale, not two episodes before.
As if this wasn’t ridiculous enough, we were also supposed to believe that Lena still doesn’t know who Kara is.
The DEO had a farewell party for Supergirl. The next day Cat. Co had a farewell party for Kara. Now they are both gone. Lena is over here still clueless. Give me a break. Lena Luthor the super genius doesn’t know Kara is Supergirl. Okay, writers.
Onto the next story blunder of the night. Sam is supposedly *cured* which we all know is BS. She reunites with Ruby. Alex is both happy for them and sad. Apparently, even though Alex is only a little older than Kara, we have to pretend that she needs a baby immediately. Do the writers just want us to squirm this season.
- Alex is sitting alone at home, sad that Kara is leaving.
- She opens up her laptop and pulls up an adoption site.
- Apparently if your female and single, all you want it a baby. Seriously, writers.
So begins the world’s most irrelevant storyline. The timing of this is silly. two episodes before the finale we start this.
Mon-El and His Feelings
Over on Argo, with the storyline no one cares about, we have Kara and Mon-El. Mon-El once again wants to talk about his feelings. This man could of told Kara he loves her about 8 episodes ago, but no, we are still going round and round.
Finally he straight up tells her. Right before we hear her answer, one of those stupid drones attacks her. At the end of the season we all better have some closure about their relationship. Two seasons is entirely too much time to spend on this.
What it all means.
After the episode we are left to contemplate what it was about. Here is what I have come up with:
- M’yrnn is dying.
- Lena has discovered new properties of the rock.
- Tess is a genius.
- Reign is far from gone.
What will next episode bring? Who knows at this point, I mean really. What did you all think of this week’s episode? Sound off in the comments!
