‘Supergirl’ recap: 3×20 “The Top 5 Moments”

Supergirl recap: Season 3, Episode 20, “Dark Side of the Moon” Aired May 28, 2018.

This week’s episode of Supergirl featured a blast from the past, an assassin, and a rock. As the finale draws near, the stakes are higher than ever. Let’s check out the top 5 moments of this week!

1. Argo

The CW

Supergirl and Mon-El travel to a distant meteor in search of a rock substance that can help defeat Reign. To Supergirl’s surprise, they discover a Kryptonian city. This city is called Argo and homes the last remaining Kryptonians.

Shockingly, one of the Kryptonians is Kara’s Mother, Alura Zor-El! They reunite and here is what goes down!

  • Kara and Alura hug forever. I mean wouldn’t you, if you thought your Mom was dead?
  • They explain to each other why they assumed they were dead.
  • Kara catches her up to speed on Earth’s crisis.

Alura agrees Kara must meet with the council to determine if they can give her the substance. If they do, they are risking the protection of their own people!

2. Someone is hunting Alex!

I think, with as long as Alex Danvers has worked at the DEO, she has made some enemies. Finally, one of those enemies is out to get her. Normally this would be just another day with Alex. Unfortunately, she is currently taking care of Ruby and things get messy!

  1. Ruby and Alex go out for ice cream and Alex gets shot at.
  2. Alex drops Ruby at the DEO for protection. The DEO begins to look into all her enemies.
  3. Alex goes to get on her bike and it explodes as she gets off!

Winn and Ruby have a heart-to-heart about evil parents. They bond. Alex and J’onn search for her would-be-assassin.

3. Earth vs. Argo

The substance Earth needs is currently powering the shield protecting Argo. Without the shield the Kryptonians will die. Many of them are already sick and without powers. A council of elders must convene to hear Supergirl out.

Alura introduces the council to her daughter. The debate begins on whether they should risk giving a piece of the substance to Earth. One huge reveal unfolds. One of the members of the council is the confidant of Reign. Unknown to Supergirl and Mon-El.

Despite this reveal, the confidant agrees to give Supergirl the substance. Warning! Danger! This leads us to assume the substance will not defeat Reign.

4. The Choice

Meanwhile back on Earth, Lena realizes she cannot cure Sam. Reign is getting stronger and will eventually break free. She must now decide if she should flood Reign’s body with kryptonite and kill her, or hold off until Supergirl gets back.

The problem becomes, if Supergirl does not arrive in time, Reign will escape. Lena must decide what kind of person she is. Lena’s time is cut short. Reign breaks free and Lena floods her system to 97%.

It does not work! Luckily Supergirl arrives just in time!

5. Alex catches the bad guy!

Per usual, our girl Alex catches the bad guy. The assassin is revealed to be the brother of a Fort Ras escapee that Alex caught. After a lengthy chase and a few building jumps, Alex comes to a conclusion. The day that she becomes a Mother, she must decide whether to stay at the DEO or choose a different career path.

She does not want to risk the safety of her future child. Hypothetically. J’onn assures her when the time is right, she will know what to do.

What did you think of this week’s episode? Are you excited to see the outcome of the battle? Do you think Lena was going to push the serum to 100 percent?
