The Resident recap, Season 1, Episode 11, “And The Nurses Get Screwed”, aired April 23rd, 2018
Nic got way more than just a raw deal in this episode. Things are winding up as the season finale is coming closer. But we have hope that Conrad will be able to help Nic out of this setup. We’re also holding out hope that both Lane and Bell will get what they deserve after everything they’ve done and continue to do. From the looks of things, it’s going to get far worse before it gets better. Let’s break it down!

Let’s talk about the best of this episode. In a show where there are so many negatives and so many evil characters, we need to focus on everything that is right and good. We’ve been rooting for Conrad to be able to get Nic back since pretty much the moment we saw them on screen. It finally seems like we’ve made some progress with their relationship. By that, we mean that it seems as if they actually have one this time around. Conrad is clearly willing to let Nic in for real and to finally let his walls down around her. Nic is allowing herself to lean on him in her time of need and their moments are exactly what keep us going during these dark times.
What happened to Nic was unfair, unacceptable, and every other bad word there is. But we have no doubt about Conrad and his abilities to get Nic out of this mess and get Lane exactly what she deserves. The tenderness between the two of them and how well they obviously know the soul of the other has us feeling all the feels. The way Conrad has absolutely no fear and is willing to take anyone on for Nic had us cheering. When no one else is willing to stand up, Conrad will stand up alone and do whatever he has to in order to get the truth out. But things clearly aren’t going to be easy.
Lane rings the Bell
Just when it seemed Claire was finally starting to get the hint about Bell and how he is really operating, Mina stuck up for him. We kind of understand why she did it on one hand, but on the other, we wish this had been the final nail in Bell’s coffin. Or at least the first one since he seems to get away with everything else. But it came back to bite Claire in the ass when Bell teamed up with Lane to kick Claire right off the board of directors. We’re left clueless about how the hell Bell was able to use the instance of him setting a patient on fire to get someone else fired. Jeez. This whole hospital needs a face lift.
Bell teaming up with Lane seems like the worst possible decision. We’re pretty sure she’s only using him to get what she wants. Even though we still aren’t really sure what it is she’s ultimately after. We know that she’s willing to go to any lengths to keep others from investigating her clinic. But why? We really can’t wait to find out what the big secret is surrounding this clinic. Add to that our agitation over Irving recommending another patient to Lane. Our anger was pretty much sent way over the top the moment Nic walked in that office to see Bell behind the CEO desk. Words cannot describe all the emotions we are feeling. But this should at the very least keep him out of the operating room. Right? Right?!
Confrontations
Claire wasn’t the only one to get confronted this week. In fact it seemed like everyone was either dishing out or receiving confrontations. Lane got one from Conrad that was way more than just well deserved. Even though she dished it back with a nice dose of threatening overtures, we have faith that Conrad will come out on top. Then Claire got confronted by Conrad. He was on a real role here. Nothing was going to stop him from defending his love. Claire wasn’t able to give it back quite the same as Lane and seemed t have some harsh realities to face. Then Claire got it again when Bell and Lane ganged up on her and got her fired. Maybe she should have listened to Conrad when he tried to tell her. Easy come, easy go.
What do you think is really happening with Lane’s clinic? How much further will she be willing to go in order to protect whatever secret she has? With Bell sitting in the CEO chair, how well will the hospital operate now? What will the next move for Nic be now that she’s been fired? What is Lane’s overall goal with everything she has been doing? Will Conrad be able to bring her down before Lane brings him down? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
