‘Legends of Tomorrow’ recap: 3×14 “Amazing Grace”

Legends of Tomorrow recap: Season 3, Episode 14, “Amazing Grace,” Aired March 12, 2018.

Totems, totems, and more totems! That’s right, you guessed it. The final one was revealed this episode. You know what? It was my favorite totem story so far. Let’s see how it came into the possession of our mystery bearer.

1. The Death Totem Bearer

The CW

Welcome to Memphis, where our next totem bearer lives.

A man walks into a pawn shop. He goes to buy a guitar. The shop owner warns him the guitar is cursed. The man shrugs him off and buys it. He goes to leave.

“What’s your name son?”

“Presley, sir.”

Is it who you think it is? Elvis Presley. The answer is no, it is actually his twin brother, Jessie! What?! (Jaw drop.) Mind you, we don’t actually know it is his twin until much later. After Jessie dies, Elvis keeps his guitar, as a symbol of his brother.  Little does he know, the guitar carries a symbol of it’s own.

2. Wally is not fitting in.

When Wally West showed up he mentioned to Rip he doesn’t think Zari likes him. I don’t know if I missed a scene or something. I couldn’t figure out why he would think this. Last night’s episode made it perfectly clear, she doesn’t.

The Legends try to get the guitar away from Elvis. In doing so, they end up in between a fight with Elvis and his Uncle, the leader of the parish. They split into two to recover the guitar and help Elvis. Zari and Wally were teammates.

We will get to the bottom of this. Throughout their mission Wally tries to speed through everything. Zari gets more and more annoyed with him. She finally tells him,

“You can’t always speed through life. You have to talk to people and figure out the root of their issues.”

Zari and Wally did exactly that.

3. The Uncle doth protest to much.

Elvis’ Uncle believes rock music is unholy. This is of course ironic, given his death totem/guitar raises the dead when he plays. Nate, Amaya, Z, and Wally try to convince the Uncle that music spreads joy and inspires love.

  • This explanation gets ruined when the dead attack the church that his parishioners are in.
  • Elvis discovers he can control the dead if he appreciates and respects them.
  • He plays a song to make them go back to rest.

His Uncle realizes that rock can inspire and create. Hallmark-y. Elvis returns the totem to the team.

4. Sad Mick.

While all of this was going on, Mick was morning a friend. His friend Axel had gotten into Ray’s chemicals. He ate the wrong ones and died. Axel is Mick’s rat! HA!

Mick was going through some emotions we were unaware of. In a less obvious way, Mick managed to tell Ray everything keeps changing. This makes me nervous. Is it getting to be too much for Mick? Will he leave at the end of the season?

I hope not!

What do you think? See you next week my Legends.

I am an actor and a writer. I spend my free time reading, watching television, and hanging out with friends. My love of all things supernatural came from my first time watching ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and has expanded into a wide range of shows. I love all things ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’, ‘The Vampire Diaries’, and ‘The Originals’, to name a few. Traveling, cons, and beaches are three of my favorite things!
