Why we all could have lived without ‘Supernatural’ 13×15 “A Most Holy Man”
Supernatural recap: Season 13, Episode 15, “A Most Holy Man,” Aired Thursday, March 8, 2018
I feel completely dirty for saying this. But I really did not care for this episode of Supernatural, “A Most Holy Man.” At all. Like literally there was nothing that great about it in my opinion.
Filler Episode

To quote a line from Buffy the Vampire Slayer “I think this line’s mostly filler.” I mean seriously. There was virtually no point to the episode. And honestly, I feel like we got enough of this with the episode “The Scorpion and the Frog.” Maybe if would have hit better if these episodes were in different seasons. I don’t know.
Versatility

Granted. This did prove that the writing team is capable of doing such a thing. Great. And obviously the Jared and Jensen can play the role of mobster errand boys. But it just felt odd that they were trying to fit the Winchesters in that role.
No other main characters

I don’t know about you guys, but I prefer episodes with Castiel. I mean, it’s season 13. As much as I love the Winchesters, we have more characters than them now. Let’s see them! Even just a check in on Jack and Mary–or Gabriel for that matter–would have been great.
Blurred Lines

One thing I did like was the continued emphasis on the difference between Supernatural and other “hero” shows. We’re familiar with the hard core distinction between good and evil. This episode highlights how different Supernatural is from that mindset. There were no demons in the episode. But the Winchesters we’re definitely killing. It didn’t matter to them that these were people. Evil is evil. If only some other shows could make this revelation. I’m looking at you again Buffy!
Most Holy Man

The only thing that this episode accomplished was actually getting the ingredient that they needed to do the spell to get to Apocalypse!World: blood of a most Holy Man. Great. Can we move on now?
Alright, now that that is over, who’s completely psyched for the next episode, “ScoobyNatural?!”
