Listen up everyone, there are only 3 weeks to go until season 8b of The Walking Dead starts up! And much to everyone’s excitement, they gave us a super sweet trailer to get us hyped. It had everything; dramatic music, intense speeches, and words of wisdom from a dying Carl. You know – everything.
So what did we think? Overall, it was great. It got us ready and excited for the second half of the season, which is all you can ask of a trailer. There is a lot going on in this trailer, but here are 3 thoughts we had watching it.
#1 Carl is probably gonna stick around a bit. I personally will be the first to admit – I don’t like the emotional, drawn out good-byes. Give me a quick zombie bite, someone screaming “NOOOOOO” and let’s move on. From the looks of the trailer, Carl might linger a bit with his death. It makes sense that such a long running character would get a good send off, but how much of that first episode back will be dedicated to him and Rick’s grief?
#2 Where are they going to go? We didn’t really think about it until Dwight said it, where is home base now? The Hilltop? Kingdom is overrun, Alexandria is on fire, I guess Hilltop is the only place left. But we agree with Dwight on this, you can’t all be in one place no matter what Daryl thinks. We assume there is a larger plan to unfold with that, but if Rick is in bad shape after Carl, maybe not.
#3 This war is gonna end crazy. There was a lot of action in this trailer and setting things up nicely for the conclusion of this conflict with the Saviors. To be perfectly honest, it’s time to wrap this up. As much as we have loved Negan and the performance of JDM, this have been going on for awhile. The show needs to end this conflict, move on to bigger and better things.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC at 9/8c. It returns Feb. 25th.
