‘Supergirl’ recap: 3×07 “Wake Up”

Supergirl recap: Season 3, Episode 7, “Wake Up” Aired November 20, 2017.

Tonight’s episode was a Sam and Mon-El centric episode and for the first time ever, I was okay with it. To clarify, I am always okay with a Sam episode.

Every Sam scene was great, per usual. Where was Kara during this episode? She was shooting the crossover. Strap in my friends. Let’s sort out the butt loads of information revealed in this episode!

He’s back!

The CW

I will be honest. I was not happy when I saw the preview for this episode. Don’t get angry at me yet. Let me explain. Kara spent the first 6 episodes slowly coming to terms with Mon-El’s departure. The audience had to sit through Kara’s anger and sadness. It was a true emotional journey that she was not finished making.

Then, in true superhero loopholes they brought him back. What is the point of characters dying or leaving, if they keep coming back. It brings no stakes to the show. With that being said, I did like the story they told about his return. It wasn’t all sunshine and happiness when they found Mon-El in that ship.

Where have you been?

The Arrowverse has made us all very skeptical and with good reason. Mon-El’s return is incredibly shady. The team arrives on the ship and gets shot at. Mon-El appears from the shadows speaking Saturian with a lengthy beard.

Chaos ensues when they bring him back to the DEO.

  • Mon-El is closed off and distant.
  • He wakes up and knocks out some DEO agents.
  • He was trying to steal a silver tube looking thing.
  • Kara knocks him out.

The crazy man wakes up and Kara grills him on who he is. It turns out Mon-El was gone for 7 years in the 31st century. A lot has changed with him and he is not ready to tell Kara what.

On the other side of the street

Over on the other side of the street Sam is figuring out who she is. The scene opens up to her cooking for Ruby. As she is boiling water she decides to test her impenetrable skin. Cut to her hand in boiling water. When she pulls it out nothing is wrong with it.

Sam decides to visit her adopted Mom and get some answers. When she shows up on “Patricia’s” doorstep we get the sense they didn’t leave on the best of terms.

  1. Patricia kicked Sam out when Sam told her she was pregnant.
  2. Patricia has never met Ruby.
  3. Sam landed in a spaceship and Patricia took her in. Sam had no idea.
  4. Patricia kept the ship in the shed. Superman throw backs!

Another Spaceship

The CW

A Kryptonian memory shard comes out of her spaceship. She decides to follow the shard to see where it leads. Road trip!

Sam leaves Ruby in the care of someone. Seriously, I have no idea who the person it is. She promises Ruby she will be back. This automatically means that we all know she is not coming back.

Events happen very quickly after that.

  • Sam finds her Fortress of Sanctuary.
  • She puts her shard in the middle and her human computer pops up.
  • It tells Sam she is the Destroyer of Worlds.
  • The computer forces Reign to awaken in Sam.

Reign awakens. Prepare for an all out war my friends!

My Wife

Mon-El needs the silver thing to save the people on his ship. Who are these people? We don’t know. We do know the identity of one, Mon-El’s wife Emra. That’s right I said wife! Mon-El has come back a married man. Que the jaw drop.

Kara helps him save the people on his ship. His wife wakes up and is introduced to this world. Where does that leave Kara and Mon-El? We will soon see.

Tune in next week, for the crossover!
