‘Supergirl’ recap: 3×06 “Midvale”

Supergirl recap: Season 3, Episode 6, “Midvale” Aired November 13, 2017.

Hello, Superfans. On tonight’s episode of Supergirl we got a glimpse into the Danver sisters’ past.

The use of flashbacks on television is becoming more common. The trick is to keep the audience engaged during the flashbacks.

I am happy to say, I was fully immersed in them. The writers did a fantastic job giving the younger characters their own unique Kara and Alex voices.

A Return Home

Kara takes Alex home to Midvale. The Danvers sisters arrive at their childhood home. Eliza runs out to greet her daughters. Hugs all around!

Post-breakup, Alex needless to say is broken. Imagine Eyore.

Drunk Alex gets in a verbal fight with Kara. Agent Danvers exchanges words.

“You of all people don’t get to lecture me on my feelings.”

I have to agree with Alex on this one. Kara was a stick in the mud for the first two episodes.

Jump to our first flashback of the night. The scene opened with the Danvers sisters waking up in the morning.

Ten years ago Kara and Alex didn’t like each other very much.

  • They fought for bathroom usage as sisters do.
  • Kara teased Alex for not being as good as her in math.
  • Alex refuses to sit with Kara at lunch.

Hardly anyone talked to Kara at school. The only person that sat with her was a boy named Kenny. Kenny is an adorable astrology nerd who clearly has a crush on Kara.

What happened to Kenny?

Kenny asks Kara on a date. Kara however has no idea it is a date. He brings her to the middle of the woods to star gaze. They share and almost kiss moment. Kara gets nervous and hesitates. Kenny respectively pulls back and keeps talking to her.

They next morning we find out Kenny has been murdered. Young Kara makes it her mission to find out who killed her friend. Alex was secretly being tutored by Kenny and wants to help. The cops inform them Kenny’s laptop and telescope are missing from the crime scene.

Baby Kara heads to the crime scene at night to investigate.

2 Detectives

Kara uses her x-ray vision to find Kenny’s laptop. Kenny developed a program to record videos onto his computer via his telescope. Alex and Kara watch the videos and discover many secrets.

  1. Kenny caught Kara flying and he never told anyone.
  2. A teacher and a student were in a relationship. What is this Pretty Little Liars?
  3. The star quarterback smokes pot.
  4. The town’s sheriff was selling drugs stolen from evidence.

This evidence gave the girls at least four viable suspects.

The murderer is…

The CW

Young Alex goes to the football game. She runs into the sheriff and tells him about the videos. At this time Alex doesn’t know about his part in the clips. The sheriff leads Alex to an empty room in the school. He puts a gun to her head.

“I really wish you hadn’t found that video.”

Kara crashes through the wall and knocks him out. The sheriff is arrested. Their sisterhood begins with a hug.

The present.

In present day Alex wakes up. She and Kara reflect on their past. Alex apologizes. Kara gives her a hug. They drive away in J’onn’s awesome ride!

I am an actor and a writer. I spend my free time reading, writing, watching television, and hanging out with friends. My love of all things supernatural came from my first time watching ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and has expanded into a wide range of shows. I love all things ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow', 'Supergirl', and ‘Legacies', to name a few. Traveling, cons, and beaches are three of my favorite things!
