The 8 best moments from ‘The Gifted’ episode 1×03, “eXodus”
The Gifted: Season 1, Episode 3, “eXodus,” Aired October 16, 2017
Let’s break down the eight best moments from the second episode of FOX’s new series, The Gifted.
#1. Polaris & Eclipse’s history
This week we got a glimpse into the history of Polaris (Emma Dumont) and Eclipse’s (Sean Peale) history. She tells him that she wouldn’t change herself or her abilities. This is where we see Eclipse being introduced to the mutant underground. There was a spark between these two from the very start, and it is great to see how they got started. This is why Eclipse has to save her. Not only is she pregnant with his child, she saved him first.

#2. Agent Turner is on a mission
Agent Turner (Coby Bell) has proven he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. He tells Polaris that if she doesn’t cooperate and help him to bring down the Mutant Underground her baby and Eclipse will be in danger. Turner is also making deals with Reed (Stephen Moyer). He’s putting him undercover in attempts to make contact with the underground. He’s an agent obsessed with taking all mutants down because he thinks it was a mutant that killed his daughter.
#3. The Plan
Eclipse gets the idea that it’s Blink (Jamie Chung) that can rescue Polaris from prison. She’s able to teleport and got herself out of jail so why can’t she be used to break into one. Not everyone is on board with this, especially not Blink. Since she got sick she’s been unable to use her powers. Kaitlyn (Amy Acker) also thinks it’s a bad idea. She feels that making calls to the government will be a better idea. We’re not sure why she would think this considering it’s the government that’s after her family in the first place.

#4. Trainer Thunderbird
Thunderbird (Blair Redford) is the one that everyone in the underground goes to for help. When Blink can’t access her powers, Eclipse suggests that it’s up to Thunderbird to help her get them back. His training regime is simple. Focus on something you love, and you’re able to do anything. Unfortunately, Blink hasn’t had a lot of love in her life. She loves donuts so she thinks focusing on a donut will help. It doesn’t but it was worth a try, right?
#5. Dreams can come true
This week also came a look into what exactly Dreamer (Elena Satine) can do. She’s able to give people memories. Dreamer tells Thunderbird that she can give Blink memories that will make her use her magic. She has to have something to care about, but Dreamer doesn’t think that she can do that without help. Thunderbird reminds Dreamer of what happened last time she messed with someone’s mind, which talks her down. For now.

#6. Family matters
Kaitlyn thinks going to her brother will help Reed and Polaris. Unfortunately, the plan backfires. They sneak out of the compound but not without notice. Once Thunderbird realizes that the family is gone he knows they have to go after them. Uncle Danny (Jeffrey Nordling) lets Kaitlyn and the kids spend the night and she’s awoken the next morning by Thunderbird and Eclipse. It’s not long before the neighborhood watch realizes that there are mutants in Danny’s house and the lynch mob ascends. Thanks to Andy (Percy Hynes White) and Eclipse, the family escapes the house with their lives but the mob follows.
#7. Reed’s double cross
Agent Turner trusts Reed to lead him to the underground. What he doesn’t count on is Reed turning on him. Reed goes to the bar and arranges to get to his family; however, he encounters a mother and daughter while he waits. Thankfully, he has a conscience. When they’re on the way to the drop point, Reed jumps out of the van. Turner isn’t happy with Reed’s decision to no longer cooperate and arranges for him to be transferred to the same prison where Polaris is being held. Reed sacrificed his freedom for all of the mutants—proof that people can change.

#8. Rescue mission
When Dreamer realizes that Thunderbird and Eclipse are in trouble she tells Blink that she has to help. Blink insists that her powers still are not working. Dreamer does what she has to do and goes against Thunderbird’s wishes. She plants a memory of love in Blink’s mind so she’ll feel compelled to save Thunderbird. It’s not just a vision. Dreamer gave Blink one of her own memories. The memory worked, and because of her love for Thunderbird, Blink was able to open the portal and save the day.
