The 6 biggest moments in the latest trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

Did you pick your jaw off the floor yet? Me neither. We only have about two months left before Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters. If the latest trailer is any indication, we are in for a wild ride. Let’s jump right into the trailer by pointing out the biggest moments!

#1 Luke is afraid

We finally see Luke take the lightsaber from Rey which will set off the events surrounding Rey’s training. We hear a voiceover from Rey saying, “something inside me has always been there, but now it’s awake and I need help.” Luke comments on her strength but instead of admiring it, he seems scared. Luke is then heard saying, “I’ve seen this raw strength only once before it didn’t scare me enough then, it does now.” Fans can safely assume he is referring to his student Kylo Ren who turned his back and joined the Dark Side. Is Luke nervous that Rey will follow in Kylo Ren’s footsteps? It is also important to note that a voiceover from Snoke also mentioned a “raw power” but he is seemingly referring to Kylo Ren just adding another connection to the two young Force users.

#2 Leia is in danger

Kylo Ren is out for revenge after his faceoff with Rey on the Starkiller Base. Speaking of faces, his scars still haven’t even healed since the battle. The trailer gives viewers a closer look at Kylo Ren’s new TIE Silencer and he’s targeting the Resistance. At one point he sets his sights directing on the cruiser that inhabits his mother, General Leia. Kylo Ren has already killed his father Han but it sure seems like he is hesitating in doing the same to his mother. Is he feeling the guilt or does he have a stronger connection with his mother?

#3 Chewie has a new friend

Ever since the introduction of the Porg, fans have been going wild for the new adorable creature. From the looks of the trailer, Chewbacca has found a new friend. Chewie will undoubtedly be grieving the loss of his best friend and co-pilot with the death of Han but it is nice to see him find a new pal. There is a great scene of the Porg even mimicking Chewie’s iconic groan.

#4 Finn faces off against Captain Phasma

Star Wars fans have been vocal about how The Force Awakens was seriously lacking in terms of Captain Phasma. The Last Jedi heard our cries because it looks like the female chrome stormtrooper will play a more prominent role. We see Finn in a heated battle against Captain Phasma during his latest Resistance mission and it looks epic.

#5 Rey encounters Snoke

Finally, a close up of Supreme Leader Snoke, no more holograms. But wait, why is Snoke attacking Rey? At some point, Rey leaves Acho-To and makes her way to find herself in the presence of Snoke. He mentions to Rey about “fulfilling her destiny” and is seemingly trying to recruit her. By doing so, he puts his own Force powers on display by levitating her in painful agony.

#6 Kylo Ren extends his hand

We know that Kylo Ren has struggled with his potential and that continues to be the case. There is also the issue with him being totally committed to the dark side. We have mentioned the possibility of the introduction of a Gray Jedi, could it happen in The Last Jedi? The biggest moment comes at the end of the trailer when Rey says, “I need someone to show me my place in all this” just as Kylo Ren puts out his hand to Rey. Could she be aligning with Kylo Ren? On the other hand this could be just a clever use of editing scenes to throw viewers off track. Just look at his scars, they sure look different than the rest of the trailer.

We still have a few more months to speculate on each shot from the latest from The Last Jedi. If you are like us, you probably watched it a countless number of times and shared the same reaction as Yoda each time…
