Arrow’s Felicity Smoak is, well, a total badass. She’s a hero in her own right and has probably the largest fanbase of any character in the Arrowverse. But it’s important to embrace your roots – before she was a CEO, Overwatch, or the potential future Mrs. Queen, Felicity was Arrow’s main source of humor. The funniest part of Felicity’s personality has always been her accidental innuendo (which is usually directed at Oliver.) Let’s take a look at the seven funniest times Felicity’s brain has betrayed her.
7. “It needs to be dark in here for me to do this.”
In one of the few awkward comments not directed at one of her romantic interests, Felicity accidentally makes a suggestive statement to Walter when helping him in season one.
At least she realized how it sounded immediately after and clarified!
6. “I want to see it. And by “it” I mean your speed. In case you thought I was talking about something else, which I was not.”
In the season 3 The Flash crossover, Felicity accidentally hits on Barry – sort of. When she asks to see his speed, he makes a surprised face and she realizes how she sounds.
The moment gets funnier the longer Felicity attempts to explain, which is common when her brain fails her.
5. “All I did was stick something in you.”
Another hilarious moment comes after Felicity saves Ray with the nanotech. She means to tell him that she didn’t do much, only injected him with the tech, but it doesn’t come out quite right.
Ray’s face afterward says it all, really.
4. “Maybe he thinks he penetrates just fine.”
In the eighth episode of Arrow’s second season, newly introduced Barry Allen questions the type of arrow used by The Arrow. When Barry suggests that a different element could help the arrows penetrate better, Felicity’s response is completely unintentional but hilarious.
Poor Barry was probably too distracted by the implication of that comment to realize how defensive of The Arrow Felicity was.
3. “You know I imagined you saying that to me under very different circumstances… very platonic circumstances.”
This one isn’t even the result of something sounding wrong – Felicity just accidentally lets her true feelings slip out for a moment. Of course, she tries to backtrack, but she isn’t fooling anyone.
“Platonic Circumstances.” Sure, Felicity.
2. “I love spending the night with you.”
The funny thing about this interaction is that Felicity immediately catches her mistake and has clearly come up with a method to deal with her flubs. After realizing she has made yet another inappropriate comment she starts counting to herself “3…2…1.” Of course, the damage was already done.
What Felicity meant was that she enjoys the work she does for The Arrow, but it sure does sound like she means something else entirely, doesn’t it?
1. “It feels really good having you inside me. And by you, I mean your voice. And by me, I mean my ear… I’m going to stop talking. Right now.”
The most hilarious of all of Felicity’s slip-ups comes when she is infiltrating a casino for Oliver in season one. Everything about this moment is laugh out loud funny.
Felicity’s explanation and subsequent reaction to her own words make this one of the most iconic scenes in Arrow history.
