Teen Wolf 6b Premiere: Season 6, Episode 11, “Said the Spider to the Fly,” Aired July 30, 2017
The wait is over! 6B is here and now I am writing my last Teen Wolf season premiere recap! (SOB) Let’s get to it!
Assistant Coach Scott! The end of senior year happened so quickly, we almost forgot that Scott graduated! We open with the Lacrosse field and see that Scott isn’t geared up to play and it really reminds us that times have changed. Scott is still in Beacon Hills and is now the Assistant Coach to the Lacrosse Team that he used to lead. After a hilarious exchange with Coach, Scott realizes that Liam isn’t even on the field. It was a nice reminder of the parallel that the show had given us with the pack and the team. Scott wasn’t ever just priming Liam to take over the Lacrosse team, he was prepping him to lead a pack. And after watching the episode, it seems that parallel will continue with Scott stepping into a mentor role and Liam doing the dirty “Alpha-ish” work. (Rat collection and all!)
Liam steps up. If you read our spoiler free review, we mentioned the humor. We jump right into that when Mason and Corey are getting a heartbroken Liam dressed and then they literally drag him out of the locker room. Hayden moved away to protect her sister from the crazy shiz that goes down in Beacon Hills and honestly, we are surprised any of them still choose to live there. Without a Hayden stuck to his face, Liam is really funny, especially when paired with Mason. More of that please!
Ew. Spiders. Ew. Practice is interrupted by a bloodied wolf who wanders out onto the field. Scott is able to alpha him away but it’s not over. When Liam and Scott follow the wolf into the woods, they see a pack of dead wolves and then a sh*t ton of spiders crawl out of the eye socket of one! Ew. Hopefully this is just meant to creep us out and it’s NOT foreshadowing what’s in store for Scott’s pack this season. Yikes.
Anger management. We saw a snippet of Liam’s loss of control on the Lacrosse field when he took a hard hit and his eyes started to glow but that was just the tip of the wolfy iceberg. Liam seemed to have everything under control for some time but now, he is falling apart again. Scott even makes him pull out his old mantra in order to control his shifting. Could it be that Hayden was his anchor, like Allison was to Scott? Awww.
New Hell Hound! He is in Eichen House which is never a good sign. But he’s not just in Eichen, he has been there since it opened, hanging out and being a Hell Hound popsicle. He thaws and starts looking for something. He can sense other supernaturals and mistakes Liam for someone else. He is clearly on the hunt when he heads over to the hospital and Parrish can sense him too. It’s all very firey but we don’t know what the F is happening but it’s clear that this Hell Hound has a thing for chaos.
New counselor! Speaking of new characters, we finally (officially) meet the new counselor at Beacon Hills High. Corey, Mason and Liam are registering for classes and she is “guiding” them on their schedules. It is immediately clear that she is very concerned with the pack kids and where they will be. She also takes an interest in Nolan. It seems that (unlike everyone else at Beacon Hills) Nolan is shook up by the events in the library not too long ago. We are curious to see what their connection will be going forward because it seems like she is pumping him for info.
Rat King? For real, why does anyone go to this school? While Liam and Mason are looking for some books to do some research (which they can’t because the books are all gone) and they hear a scream! Rats have infested a classroom because of course they did. And creepy new Hell Hound dude seems to be soaking up the chaos. (Side note: Does this school not have any security anymore? How did he just stroll in?) Liam and Mason head down to the sewers to find the source and there is a big hunk of rat stuff. Ew. 6b is all about the ick.
Lydia’s vision. Poor Lydia. She has a super scary vision with spider webs and other terrifying things. Instead of running, she touches everything she can to get as much info as she can. She hears a voice say that they “let it out” and that it was meant to ride the hunt. Hmmmm, that must be what the new Hell Hound is hunting. What the hell are they up against?!
“You let it out. It was supposed to ride with the hunt forever.” – Mr. Spider Web
Nighttime Study Hall at Beacon Hills High. Why would anyone ever want to go to Beacon Hills High at night? WHY?! For some reason, bothHell Hounds show up to the nighttime study session too and they fight a little. Parrish, just sit down buddy. The newbie hound is super into Liam for some reason. So does that mean that the “thing they let out” is a wolf? Liam and the Hell Hound have a crazy, badass fight. Liam may not have his anger under control but he has his crazy flip kicks down. He holds his own against the crazy Hell Hound and we are here for it. Go Liam.
We can’t leave. So after Lydia’s creepy AF moment, she stops Scott from leaving when she hops in front of the jeep. Scott and Lydia realize that they need the new Hell Hound in order to catch whatever they let out of the hunt but there is one major problem. The new counselor just killed the new Hell Hound with a silver Argent looking bullet. Dayum.
Time to call Stiles? Malia, Scott and Lydia aren’t sure if they should call Stiles but then Scott plays a voicemail from him. He has moved on and wants them to do the same. It’s upsetting that he has checked out but then we see that our baby is in the FBI!
Stiles! There is also a blink and you’ll miss it Stydia moment and while we wish there was more of them we love that he’s doing his thang. At the FBI, it really feels like classic Stiles when he interrupts the teacher every five seconds. He is so, so ready to jump into this FBI case and it’s so endearing. He (and his classmates) get to help out on an actual case! It’s a mass murderer and you’ll never guess who it is!!! DEREK HALE! Stiles spitting out his drink is a direct representation of our shock but it’s quickly replaced with excitement. This is going to be awesome!
