All good things come to an end, and the same is true for San Diego Comic-Con 2017. Fans of all kinds were treated to trailers and panels (check out the rest of Pure Fandom for some awesome finds). However, one trailer arguably stole the show: the official Thor: Ragnarok trailer. Its tone seems to be completely different from the other Thor movies—in the best way possible.
Even if you’re not a huge fan of the past Thor movies, you need to watch the trailer and see what we mean.
Excited? Us too. Let’s break down the top 7 parts of the trailer that make us want November to be here already.
1. The humor
Ragnarok already looks like it isn’t going to take itself too seriously. Humor has long been a strong point for MCU movies, and we can’t wait to see how funny this movie is. Judging from the trailer (“I lost my hammer, like, yesterday, so that’s pretty fresh”), we have plenty to look forward to.
2. The colors and music giving us a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ vibe
…And we’re not mad about it. The trailer is colorful and bright, a contrast to trailers of the past Thor movies. The rock music in the background gives the whole video a playful but frenetic feel. Maybe a more 80’s-inspired approach is exactly what the Thor series needed. And the fact that Thor will eventually meet the Guardians makes the vibe even more welcome.
3. Thor making a team to face off against Hela
“Just like old times.” In order to stop Hela, the goddess of death, from destroying Asgard, Thor makes a superhero team of his own. With a group like Thor, Hulk, Loki, and newcomer Valkyrie, there’s a good chance we’ll get some awesome fight scenes.
4. Loki’s return
Let’s be honest: Loki is that Marvel character that we hate to love and love to hate. Sure, he brought hordes of aliens to Earth in The Avengers. But man do we adore seeing him team up with his brother. Of course, we know better than to trust Loki fully… who knows what tricks he has up his sleeve?
5. “What were you the god of again?”
What a badass. After Hela taunts him, we get this shot that’s one of the best parts of the whole Thor: Ragnarok trailer. If this didn’t get you pumped for the movie, we don’t know what will.
6. Hulk. Talking.
We highly doubt that there’s a single Marvel fan who didn’t get a kick out of this. Hulk finally speaks a sentence in the trailer, and the following conversation with him and Thor is hilarious. Hopefully we’ll get even more dialogue from Hulk in the movie, because it seems like he has plenty to say when he’s not riled up.
7. Thor and Hulk/Bruce Banner’s relationship
Thor and Hulk have always had an… interesting relationship. (See: Hulk sucker-punching the god in The Avengers.) Even though he and Bruce Banner have better luck getting along, we can’t wait to see how the two superheroes interact with each other more. They will be spending lots of time together, and if the trailer is any indicator, we’ll see some awesome and funny scenes.
