There’s no better way to really test the longevity of your relationship than to combine your love of all things nerdy with the love of your partner. Besides, most of us have had at least one superhero movie moment we’ve yearned to experience. That’s why we’ve come up with some great superhero dates for your next night out.
Have you already tried the stereotypical superhero movie marathon or Nerf-gun date? Tired of the usual routine? Or maybe you’re just trying to introduce your significant other to a whole new world! Pure Fandom has your back!
Here are our top 7 superhero dates!
Let’s get building
Nowadays, Lego has almost every superhero available in its collection. Swing by your local toy store and get building! Piecing together Lego sets can be a fantastic way to compromise and create something really cool together. Not to mention, it makes for a great accent piece in your home. (Okay, maybe I’m biased. I have Legos all over.) Take turns building different pages. Let each other build their favorite character from the movie. When there’s an item you have to make twice, turn it into a competition to see who can build it first!
Fight to the death
Okay, maybe not that far. Try out a martial arts, fencing, or archery (for all of the Arrow lovers!) class together. Not only will it make you feel like a real superhero, but it’s not a half bad skill to have anyways. Parring with your partner will be competitive and even romantic. All in good fun of course!
Paint your favorite “ship”
If you’re a true superhero fan, you probably have a favorite couple that you root for. You can craft a great piece of art with your partner that doesn’t take too much artistic talent. Pick some iconic silhouettes or maybe even quotes from the characters. All you need is a little bit of paint and two small canvases. Each of you can let your creative side out by painting one of the two characters. Put them up next to each other and it will be a reminder of your favorite “ship” as well as your own relationship!
Recreate THAT Superman scene
Okay, so there are probably a few romantic scenes that come to mind, but I’m talking about the one from Batman vs. Superman. You know which one I’m talking about! Give your significant other a nice, relaxing bath time and when you get home from work you can join them like Clark Kent. Just try not to think about the water damage or mess you’ll have to clean up later.
Make your evening really…POP
Funko! POP has millions of superhero figures. But do you know what they don’t have? A version of you as the superhero you are! Luckily, they offer blank pop figures that you can get crafty with. They’re reasonably priced and you can turn it into a date night. You can keep it simple with markers or paint, or you can go all out with a little bit of clay and sculpting tools. Your significant other and you can finally have your alter egos on display!
Reminisce about the classic Spidey days
One of the most iconic Spider-Man moments is THE upside-down kiss. Instead of jumping right into a recreation, take the day off to go to the zoo. Maybe you can think of the animal that would best suit a superhero version of yourself? Challenge each other to see who can get closest to the glass that separates you from the terrifying spiders. Too far? At the end, hit your local park (preferably when nobody else is around) and one of you can hang upside-down from a bar. Boom! You’ve spent the day learning about spiders, hopefully avoiding any bites, and you get one of your favorite movie moments. Extra credit if it’s raining.
(And if spiders aren’t for you, make it Aquaman style and visit an aquarium instead!)
Get a little crazy at the carnival
Next time a local carnival or fair is in town attend it. Spend the night doing crazy things together. Go to the top of the ferris wheel and announce what your favorite thing about your partner is. Try to win the weirdest prize at the shooting range booth. Or… make it a competition! Mad love. Nothing holds the Joker or Harley Quinn back! Create the weirdest pet names you can for each other and use them all evening, puddin’.
Bonus points: Go to your closest comic-con and cosplay together. It may take more than a few “dates” to put together your costumes. Also, I consider comic-con to be more than a date, but a life-experience-yearly-tradition-oh-my-gosh-you-have-to-go. Dressing up as your favorite characters can be really fun, though!
