Legends of Tomorrow recap: Season 2, Episode 16, “Doomworld,” Aired March 30, 2017
It is with a sad heart that I discuss this week’s episode of Legends. I am sensing a theme in the finales of this show. Mind you, it is the second-to-last episode of the season, but close enough. At the end of the season we get a major character death.
Our hearts get ripped out of our bodies and stomped on. This season is no different. Last season it was Leonard Snart. This year…
That’s right, our Vixen leaves us. Is she gone forever? Who knows? Will she be back next week? Maybe. Ironically the person who killed her was, Leonard Snart. I love Wentworth Miller, but this is no way for him to come back!
When Leonard’s gun went off, I froze. (No pun intended.) Utter shock set in. People wondered if someone would die in the season finale, but not the episode before! This is how I handled the scene:
- Loud yelling
- Throwing of pillows
- Punching of pillows
Watching Mick’s face, when he realized what happened, was the worst. I don’t know if he looked that sad when Snart died.
Mick gives up.
He raises his heat gun at Leonard, but he can’t pull the trigger. Instead you watch his soul die in that moment. Rory clearly cared a great deal for her. She was the only one that believed in him and now she is gone.
- Mick doesn’t fight.
- Rory breathes.
- His body falls.
As soon as Amaya dies, Thawne destroys the Spear of Destiny. What does this mean? They can no longer alter reality. Amaya is dead.
They go back to Nate’s mother’s house. Mick destroys things. He basically channels all of our emotions. All I can think about at that moment was, why couldn’t it have been Ray?
No offense to Ray, but in that moment, I would have traded. Amaya’s heart was pure and unaltered. She believed firmly in her values and was unwavering. She had the heart of a hero and the love of a friend.
The first Vixen will be missed.
Comic book twist
Just kidding! This is Legends of Tomorrow! We time travel here. After the commercial break the show reminded us of one thing- No one ever really dies in a comic book.
The Legends come up with a plan. They can time travel back to right before the spear was taken by the Legion of Doom. Jax reminds them, if they do this time could potentially collapse in on itself.
Why? They cannot interfere with their own time lines. They already traveled back to the past. If they run into themselves, the whole universe will die.
“The hell with it. Let’s do it.”
So next week strap in my Legends. Can they save our wonderful Amaya and stop the Legion? If they can’t, can they at least say goodbye to her? I am anxiously waiting for the next episode. They better save her!
See you next week!
