Lexington Comic and Toy Con: 2017 Highlights

This weekend I had the pleasure of going to Lexington Comic and Toy Con! It was a weekend full of laughs, great food, good people, and bourbon! Seriously Lexington loves their bourbon. Check out the highlights of this wonderful adventure!

The Original Flash

The original Flash himself was a guest at the Con. Not only was he a sweetheart, he is also a fellow Louisville fan!

Mr. Shipp went to Butler County High School, in Louisville, KY. For all you UK fans out there, sorry he is a Cards Fan! Go Cards!

AMC Comic Book Men

After my conversation with John Wesley Shipp, I went to visit my friend Ming Chen and the Comic Book Men. I arrived at their table to find the oddest sight. A great deal of fans had brought the guys different bottles of bourbon. Talk about hospitality!

Kentucky Con-goers are the best, I swear! The food was delicious and the people were welcoming.

Wynonna Earp fans rejoice!

My personal highlight of the weekend was meeting creator and author of the Wynonna Earp comic Beau Smith. Beau and his wife were fun, upbeat, and full of stories. One particular story made me dance with glee!

I asked Beau about working with the cast and show runner, Emily Andras. Don’t worry Earpers, he had nothing but great things to say about them. Here is what I learned:

  • Dominique and Melanie are just like sisters in real-life as well as onscreen!
  • The show collaborates with Beau to make sure the comic and the show blend well.
  • The cast call Beau Papa Earp. Isn’t that cute?

Cosplayers, Artists, and Karaoke

Tumblr

Lexington Comic and Toy Con was full of great artists and cosplayers. It was a fantastic day. The night, however, was epic!

After the con was a 90s theme afterparty! If you weren’t drinking or dancing you were watching artists go head-to-head with each other in a paint-off!

Once the afterparty was finished everyone moved onto a karaoke bar and sang the night away.

If you are looking for wonderful company, talented artists, and a good time check out Lexington Comic and Toy Con 2018!

My love of all things supernatural came from my first time watching ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and has expanded into a wide range of shows. I love all things ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow', 'Supergirl', and ‘Legacies', to name a few. Traveling, cons, and beaches are three of my favorite things!
