‘Marvel’s Inhumans’: Black Bolt and Maximus casting breakdown

There’s been some *super* casting news regarding the upcoming Marvel’s Inhumans ABC series! The TV show officially has its Black Bolt and Maximus.

Black Bolt

Hell on Wheels (AMC) alum Anson Mount is Black Bolt, the leader of the Inhumans. Black Bolt isn’t just the king of the Inhumans: he is incredibly powerful. Like, voice-so-powerful-it-could-level-a-country powerful. So it’ll be interesting to see how Mount will play Black Bolt, especially since the character is more or less silent for many of his comic-book appearances. While using only physical motions to bring the king to life will be challenging, Mount feels that he’s the right man for the job. It’s definitely something to look forward to.

Maximus

Game of Thrones fans, prepare yourselves: Iwan Rheon, who played Ramsay Bolton in the hit HBO series, will star as Maximus, Black Bolt’s brother. Maximus is a complicated character. While he is likeable, charismatic, and very dedicated to the people of Attilan (the city of Inhumans), he has a strong desire for the crown that his brother wears. As a result, this will lead to the character being highly unpredictable in the series. Fun fact: in the comics he’s often referred to as “Maximus the Mad.” Hmmmmm.

The other members of the Royal Family

It’s only a matter of time until the rest of the Inhumans Royal Family is announced. Since only two roles have been revealed, there are still plenty of speculation about the rest of the cast. Yet to be announced are Medusa (Queen of the Inhumans), Crystal, Gorgon, Karnak, and more. (I’m not making these names up.) There’s still plenty of time, though: the first two episodes of the series will premiere in select IMAX theaters in September of this year. After that, the series will premiere on ABC on September 26th.
