‘Bones’: Farewell Max Keenan – 3 Reasons He Will Be Missed
This post contains spoilers from Bones 12×7 “The Final Chapter: The Scare in the Score.”

Max Keenan was a gem in the world of Bones. He was the instantly appearing long-lost father of Brennan and WOW were the writers on point with bringing his character in. Max always kept the audience on their toes and was always ready for a fight. His death was quick and sweet. He was with his darling Tempe and that’s the best thing that could have happened. To honor his wonderful memory, here are 3 reasons why he will be missed by the Bones fandom.

3. Max Keenan was great with all kinds of people from Brennan to children.

One of my favorite memories of Max was when he helped Parker learn more about science. The fact that he even taught a mini class at the Jeffersonian was brilliant. I loved how he showed children the beauty and “magic” of science. He knew how to work a room and could cajole even the hardest person. Not to mention, his humor and endearment towards his daughter’s interesting personality was something only a father could have.

2. He was great if you wanted to go on the lam.

Never forget Max helped a newly christened Christine and Brennan hide away to avoid Bones being thrown into the dark depths of some decrepit jail cell. Which, thank God. Brennan behind bars is a sight I never want to see because you best believe it’s wrongful imprisonment. Anyways, Max has a ton of experience with dealing and being a criminal so, whenever someone needed something off the books, he was their man. Quite frankly, I didn’t realize how safe Max made me feel until he was gone. Case and point, Christine and Hank would not have survived the attack on the safehouse had Max not been there. Plus, if either Booth or Brennan were in trouble, Max could always be counted on to help out. He made sure no one harmed his people.

1. Max was the best thing for Brennan

Max’s protective instincts root from his love for his family. I don’t know about you, but Max’s immense love for his children was evident from all the lengths he took to protect them. He abandoned his children knowing they would be hurt, to keep them safe and alive. That is not an easy task. He only reappeared in their lives when he saw they needed help. More importantly, Max knew how to deal with Brennan. She didn’t trust him, but he worked his way back into her life. We saw how he made her more of family person. Max reminded her of all the things she loved about growing up before her parents’ disappearance. He made Brennan more human and he gave everyone solid advice. Family and friends above all else. Always. That’s something Max would definitely agree with.

Rest in peace, Max Keenan. You’ve brought so much laughter, hope, and sunshine to Bones. While we’re sad to see you go, we can appreciate the significance of your death. You died a warrior.
