‘Legends of Tomorrow’ recap: 2×03 “Shogun”

Legends of Tomorrow recap, Season 2, Episode 3, “Shogun”,  Aired Oct. 27, 2016.

Hello, Legends! You know what I am going to say, right? I know, you know. Okay, I’ll say it… NINJAS! This week’s episode brought us to Japan. The Legends came face-to-face with real Ninjas! Heatwave was so happy — he loves Ninjas!

We do have to talk about the elephant in the room, or in this case, the Vixen, first!

Last week, Hourman died in Vixen’s arm. His final words were: “Time traveler.”

In Vixen’s mind this meant, Hourman’s killer had to be one of the time travelers, she just met. Clearly there are no other time travelers in the world. Talk about jumping to conclusions!

Amaya stows away on the ship. One by one she knocks all the Legends out. Normally, I would be fine with this scene, except for one part, Sara Lance is an assassin trained in stealth. It is hard for me to believe, Vixen could get the jump on her. Just saying.

Vixen tries to kill Mick (she believes he is Rex’s killer). When, who intervenes? The new and improved Nate Heywood!

Nate Heywood, a.k.a Citizen Steel, knocks Vixen out. The origin story of Citizen Steel begins. For the rest of the episode, we follow Nate on his journey.

While Sara interrogates Vixen, the rest of the gang tries to help Nate explore his powers. During their training, Nate underestimates his strength and rips off the Waverider door, causing Nate and Ray to fall out.

Nate and Ray land in Japan, and Ray gets kidnapped by Ninjas, per the usual. Palmer’s Atom suit is stolen and used against everyone, per the usual. The gang has to rescue Ray, per the usual.

Nate meets a woman named Masako who is supposed to marry the evil General bad guy. Masako doesn’t want to, and Nate gets all male and heroic and says, he won’t let it happen.

  • Dr. Heywood tries to face off against the evil General’s army.
  • He loses, because he has no control over his powers.
  • Nate is wounded.

The Legends come to the rescue. It’s time for amazing fight scenes!

“I hate to break it to you. I am basically a ninja.” – Sara to Vixen

Vixen gets to see these words come to life, and the audience discovers Vixen is quite the warrior! Sara, Vixen, Ray, and Nate battle the Ninjas. Yes, they rescued Ray. I know you were worried. Back to important things …

Vixen and Sara basically kick everyone’s ass (Heatwave helps). Ray and Nate kill the General bad guy. Nate destroys the Atom suit with the General still inside of it!

Yes! That is correct. You heard me. Ray is now completely useless. The whole episode they try to convince us that he is not, but… I guess we will see next episode.

Masako ends up helping Nate defeat the General and uses her brother’s sword to fight him. Masako fends him off long enough for Nate to destroy the suit. Guess who Masako is the great ancestor of?

Tatsu Yamashiro!

YES! She is Katana’s ancestor! How cool is that? My nerd heart is beating. Love it!

Welcome aboard, Vixen.

At the end of the episode, Vixen decides to stick around, and Amaya determines that Mick isn’t all he appears to be. I’m sensing an oncoming romance! To conclude… Ninjas!

Until next time, my Legends!

Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.
