‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ recap: 4×04 “Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire”

Agents of SHIELD recap, Season 4, Episode 4, “Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire”, Aired October 18, 2016.

Fitzsimmons! Fitz and Simmons are apartment hunting, well Simmons is. Fitz is stuck in the lab and is planning to head over to Radcliffe’s again. After they say “I love you” (YAY), Simmons heads up to the apartment. Instead of her dream home, she finds a bloody and broken Daisy. Simmons stitches up Daisy who took a bullet in the back courtesy of the Watchdogs. Daisy asks Simmons to help her hack into the SHIELD servers and Simmons refuses, saying she can’t voluntarily help her. Daisy grabs her gun and says “what if it’s not voluntary?” and they both smile. Awesome!

Prison life. Coulson pays a visit to Robbie’s Uncle Eli and questions him about the energy lab and what went down there. Coulson tries to persuade Eli to help him with their troubling new ghost problem but he refuses. Don’t get too bummed yet because out in the parking lot, someone else shows up! Seems Coulson and Mack weren’t the only ones paying Eli a visit. Robbie pulls up in his car and then a super cool car chase ensues! Robbie and Coulson race down the track of what looks like the set of Grease!  #OhSandy

Fitz freaks! At Radcliffe’s, Fitz is having a mini-fit that Aida is helping treat May’s injuries. Nobody is supposed to know about Aida but Radcliffe doesn’t seem too worried. When Fitz lies to protect Aida’s secret, the AI questions Radcliffe about it and he says that sometimes it’s ok to lie. Let’s just all remember this as the starting point of trouble for when everything goes terribly wrong with Aida (which it super will). Simmons also finds out about Aida and gets annoyed that Fitz hid it, but understands. Simmons is subjected to regular lie detector tests and her next one is tomorrow! Also, has anyone else noticed that since Fitzsimmons got together, they haven’t really been on-screen together? Give the people what they want! #Fitzsimmons

Deal with the devil. After the race, Coulson and Mack take Robbie into custody but quickly release him. Coulson’s stance is that if Daisy trusts him, so can they. Robbie agrees to go talk to Eli to get some info on the ghosts and the lab. Eli tells robbie about a machine that can create matter and says that something went wrong with it. He also says that Lucy is looking for some evil book that will make her human again and he warns of the book’s evil.

Boom! Daisy and Simmons hack into the SHIELD servers only to find out that James, one of the Hive-influenced Inhumans from last season is next on the Watchdogs hit list. They go to “save” him but it turns James is the one working with the Watchdogs! Daisy is in no shape to fight but Simmons pulls out some badassery of her own and takes out a few of the Watchdogs. The ladies hide out and are nearly blow up by James when they are saved by my boyfriend Robbie Reyes! He also takes a liking to James’ flaming chain in a little wink to some classic Ghost Rider stuff. Did I mention that James was working in a fireworks store? Two fire dudes fighting in a fireworks store, so you can guess what happens next. BOOM!

The gang is finally back together. The look on Coulson’s face when he first sees Daisy is a little crushing but he quickly pushes his emotions aside to talk strategy with Robbie and Daisy. They need to find the evil book and he needs Quake and Ghost Rider to do it because the man that Eli put in the hospital (who is also the ghost lady’s husband) just woke up! YAY! I love them all back together.

What did you think of the episode? Are you pumped to see Daisy back with the team?
