What the new ‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 sneak peek means for Rick

The new Walking Dead season 7 sneak peek titled “Right Hand Man” just dropped, and it is beyond intense. It gives us a look at the immediate aftermath of Negan Lucille-ing someone to death. In fact, a lot of people are actually speculating that more than one person was killed. Predictions are still all over the board, but the sneak peek seems to point to Daryl as the victim. Why? His blanket can be seen on the ground at the end next to the bloody innards and remains. Would the show really give it away that easily, though? We’re guessing no, unless Daryl tried to save someone and became the second victim.

While we still don’t know for sure who died, signs do point to something major happening to Rick that could align with the comic books. Yes, we’re talking the comics, so turn back now if you don’t want to know.

The sneak peek seems to be quite prophetic. Negan taunts Rick after slaughtering a member (or members) of the group. He starts talking about his “right hand man,” asking Rick if his was still among the living. Rick, being Rick, can’t just keep his mouth shut and tells Negan that at some point, he’s going to kill him. With that, Negan gets Rick’s axe and drags him inside his trailer.

So, what does all this mean? Is he going to kill Rick? Hell no. You know Andrew Lincoln’s contract through the end of the show is on lock. In issue #28 of the comics, Rick and some of the gang are captured by the Governor at Woodbury. After the Governor taunts him, Rick mumbles to hims that he’ll kill him (sound familiar?) before passing out. When he comes to, he finds his right hand missing.

There is a slight chance that this won’t happen because of comments Robert Kirkman has made in the past. A few years ago, he told Wetpaint, “To be perfectly honest, the practical difficulties of having a guy who doesn’t have a hand is extremely complicated in the comic and would be impossible in the show.”

What do you think? Does the new sneak peek preview Rick’s fate, or does Negan have something else planned for him?

The Walking Dead season 7 starts Oct. 23 on AMC.
