‘The Flash’ recap: 2×20 “Rupture”

Season 2, Episode 20, “Rupture”, aired May 3, 2016.

In a flash, he was gone.

Dr. Frankenstein, step aside. Harrison Wells is in the building. Barry spent the biggest part of the episode looking for ways around Harrison’s idea to re-create the particle accelerator explosion as a way to return The Flash’s speed to him. He even sought counsel from Dad to help direct his decision. It’s always great to see John Wesley Shipp!   From the way they talked, Henry may be back to stay. If that’s true, it will be interesting to see how real dad interacts with adopted dad.

As Harry predicted, Cisco’s game of “hoodlums and holograms”, as he called it, was short-lived.

Zoom held true to his promise and brought Caitlin home. Of course, he announced his return by wreaking havoc on Central City. Since Barry isn’t quite up to speed, it wasn’t too hard for Zoom to flex his muscles.

It didn’t help that Caitlin pissed off Zoom, prompting  him to take out an entire S.W.A.T. team. He also outed The Flash as a hologram and promised to continue killing people simply because he could. What else could Barry do? He gave Wells the green light and strapped himself in for the ride. What could possibly go wrong? Well, for one thing, the original explosion dispersed throughout the entire city. This time around, Wells channeled every bit of that force into Barry. That said, how could anyone be surprised when Barry literally disintegrated right before their eyes?

I seriously love this show’s FX department!

We watched Barry vaporize, but we know he’s not dead. Season 3 of The Flash would totally suck without The Flash. So, where did he go? We’ll get the answer to that question next week.  In the meantime, here are some of my favorite Cisco moments from “Rupture”.

Cisco gives props:

He’s nerdy cool and we love him for it, especially when he pays homage to some of our favorite shows and movies.

Ah. Fringe, how we miss thee! If you’ve never seen it, Netflix has every episode, and it is definitely binge-watch worthy. If you have seen it, give it another look, and be sure to say hello to Olivia, Walter and Astrid for me!

This next one needs no explanation (and if you think it does, shame on you!)

I wonder what Cisco’s charm would be. Any thoughts? If so, share them in the comments below, and stay tuned. We’re nearing the finish line and the situation is getting pretty tense in Central City. The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
