It’s Official! Iron Man Will Appear In ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’!

Underoos and Tony Stark will be together again in Spider-man: Homecoming! THR reported that Robert Downey Jr. has inked a deal to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man movie! Why is the amazing? Well, let me tell you!

And further, why does Tony call him “Underoos”? Well that might be how Civil War shows their budding friendship. You see, Peter Parker is just a teen in this new flick and most teens are not capable of putting together an elaborate costume with the squinting eyes like this. A Peter Parker – made costume looks more like PJs or “underoos”, as Tony might say. Who can make a bad-ass suit with squinty eyes? That’s right, Mr. Tony Stark.

Tony Stark has a pretty cool mentor relationship with Peter in the comics. Spider-Man is Team Tony, as evidenced from the Captain America: Civil War trailer. That’s what makes all of this so amazing! People were super worried that Marvel and Sony wouldn’t be able to work things out to allow Spider-Man to appear in Civil War but it is SOOOO important that he does. Without giving too many deets away, let’s just say that in the Civil War comics, Spider-Man plays a huge role in Tony’s crusade at a certain press conference, but that’s all I will say.

There will be a huge fall-out after Civil War between lots of our favorite heroes but because of the bond that Tony and Peter Parker build in that flick, it would be super strange not to have Tony Stark in Spider-Man: Homecoming. So kudos to the movie gods for making this happen!

So now that we know Tony Stark will appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming, let’s talk about what we want from that movie, overall.

Tony Stark trying to help Peter come to grips with what goes down in Captain America: Civil War.

Tony Stark hitting on Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) PLEASE!

More snark and humor. Spider-Man is kind of a little jerk but in a great way. More of that please!

Nick Fury. Maybe I have been watching too many Ultimate Spider-Man cartoons lately, but I would love to Nick Fury trying to recruit Spider-Man into S.H.I.E.L.D. or whatever they are calling themselves now.

Uncle Ben’s death. Seriously, that’s it. That’s all. Do whatever you want but don’t show us Uncle Ben’s death EVER again, great thanks. You can talk about it, fine. But we just don’t need to waste any screen time on it. We get it.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to start production in June and Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6th.
