‘The 100’ review: 3×09 “Stealing Fire”

Season 3, Episode 9, “Stealing Fire”, Aired March 31, 2016

We are back from a break and they throw us back over to Polis. It was a solid episode with some major heartbreak. The plot is advancing nicely and I am happy to see Clarke out of Polis (FINALLY). Murphy steals the show and some wrongs are made right. Let’s dive in!

Conclave time! Clarke is not okay but at least she has Murphy. Instead of facing her feelings and her grief, Clarke focuses on her people. Aiden even offers to give her time with Lexa but Clarke can’t even look at her body. (SOB!)

Clarke talks to Aiden and learns that Lexa made all of the Nightbloods vow to protect the Sky People. Even in death, Lexa is protecting them. I already miss her. The sweet moment is cut short when Ronan and Ontari burst in. Ontari is not down with that plan, so let’s just hope that she isn’t chosen. She is unhinged.

Over in crazy town, Pike sentences Lincoln, Sinclair and Kane to die at dawn. Lincoln is so inspiring to his people. It sucks that he was always on the outside of the Grounders. He would have made an amazing leader.  A plus? Bellamy FINALLY sees Pike’s flaws but the trust is gone. Harper and Miller don’t trust Bellamy and Monty (for good reason) but they will all need to work together to free Kane, Sinclair and Lincoln. Things are so bad that Octavia doesn’t even trust Bellamy. Yikes.

We did learn a little more about the Flame. It magnifies the personality that you already have. Lexa was amazing before becoming the Commander so Titus thinks Ontari will be just as brutal as she is now.

In Polis, the Conclave is over and the winner is: Ontari!

This is not going to go well for the Sky People but I am super interested to see how this goes! The Sky peeps better stop fighting and band together now because shiz is about to go down. Also, when did Murphy get so sweet and reasonable? I love how caring he is when Clarke is upset. He could have left 20 times but stayed with Clarke. All of the wrong he did is instantly washed away in my book. I am Team Murphy. His character growth has been AMAZING!

Bryan and Miller are fighting. That scene killed me. I can’t talk about it. They are too precious. I can’t. I LOVE THEM!

Roan tries to get them out, but to Murphy’s dismay, Clarke insists on going back for the Flame. Titus agrees that Ontari is a horrible choice and he makes Clarke the Keeper of the Flame. Did I see a flash of light when he did? Clarke says she will go find the last Nightblood, Luna. How right was Clarke, though? Nightbloods are rare but they let them kill each other? How stupid.

Bellamy is in the cave with Indra while Octavia works on freeing Kane, Sinclair and Lincoln. The girl who lived under the floor for 16 years uses that to save them. She is such a badass. Bellamy feels super underutilized this episode. Locked in a cave was kind of lame, but I have a feeling that Octavia is going to lose her mind on him now.

YAY MONTY! Finally he stands up to his mom. Another YAY? Kane and Dr. Griffin kiss!

Lincoln turns himself over to Pike to save the locked up Grounders. Titus kills himself so that he can’t do the ritual on Ontari. Roan knows that Ontari sucks. I get that he is Ice Nation, but he seemed much more rational to me. Why would he agree to let this nut job be the Commander?

Clarke heads out of Polis with the Flame. Does this mean her hair will go back to normal? Am I the only one hoping she leaves her current style in Polis? As the Keeper of the Flame, Clarke has her own story! She is protecting the Flame and holds it close to her. It has Lexa’s spirit in it and I think that’s the only reason Clarke can hold it together. Lord help us if something happens to that Flame.

One more Murphy note: As much as I love Murphy being good, I really love Murphy being kind of a jerk. He doesn’t really fit in anywhere but fits in everywhere. He is such a chameleon.

Ok, time for the heartbreak. We all knew that he was leaving the show but it didn’t make his death any easier. Octavia is going to kill Pike. She is going to destroy him. Lincoln was such an amazing character. Love ya buddy.
